From the PCs' =20 point of view this is a gargantuan investment by the Alphatians - they =20 have thus far only seen the pretty weak skyships of the Desert Nomads =20 during the Great War, and fought Thyatian air force a couple of times =20 (griffin, a few dragons etc.). This far the idea of a veritable flying =20 battleship is unfathomable for them. But for the Alphatians the conquest of Freiburg (IMC an important =20 trading city and a haven for pirates and smugglers) is only a small =20 facet in their new campaign. During the last two years they conquered =20 Helskir and Oceansend, the latter practically bloodlessly (as one PC =20 assassinated the king on their behalf). Now they control the sea =20 routes to the southern seas and are planning a grand campaign against =20 the Thyatian holdings in Isle of Dawn. Freiburg is needed as a supply depot, and they also want to prevent =20 Thyatia from using Freiburg against them (Thyatia also was planning an =20 offensive against Freiburg, but the PCs stopped it). Dramatically this should work nicely. First the PCs see the Alphatian =20 Empire using "huge resources" against Freiburg (well, IMC even one =20 skyship IS a huge investment)... but then they may realise just how =20 big Alphatia is, and how little the Alphers are interested in Known =20 World right now.
