I agreed with Chris Cherrington in that beyond that would be too much detail but if someone wants to expand that please do.... I agree -- purity should be set at a standard, and only altered in specific cases (e.g., Ierendi). However, at equal size gold/platinum coins are going to be twice as heavy as silver/bronze coins of equal size > hmm, thats an interesting contradiciton... It may be due to the change in coinage (moving the "Halav" figure on the electrum piece). > Viller sounds familiar but I can't place it in the RW off the top of my head and I have no idea for Stonik. See "Stolnik" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_ruble It may also be related to "stotinki" (hundreth, 1/100 bulgarian lev) or stotin (same, but Slovenian). Maybe the root "sto" (100) was used, with the "nik" suffix (which seems to be an adjectival suffix in russian). Viller is most likely derived from Hungarian Filler (from German Vierer, 4), a subunit (cent) of several Hungarian currencies. > As for in-game reasoning, could any of the three names refer to leaders of the migration? Or how's this rough idea for the levu: Perhaps when founding the cities a cave, home to a lion den, was found nearby. After the lions were chased off a vein of electrum was found inside and a profitable mine arose? Of course there's also nothing saying we have to keep the Lion->Leo->Le(u/v)->Levu connections intact. Note that the Lion is the main charge in the Halag coat of arms, so it is possible that the "Levu" name was related to the old (pre-migration) Halag coinage. > well might I sugest use the alloy one for Slagovich and the SCCB for the other city states? That's very reasonable, considering that Slagovich has certainly more access to Red Steel/Cinnabryl than the others. That could be very helpful. Daro: standard round coin, with a crenellated edge; a crowned, bearded head facing left on the obverse, scales surmounted by five roundels on the reverse. Half-Daro: similar in size and shape to the daro, with smooth edge; a woman's head facing right and wearing a coronet on the obverse, a domed palace surmounted by five roundels on the reverse. Tentrid: Oval coin (same height as the others, 2/3 width, more or less), smooth edge; an chain-coiffed, crowned, moustached head facing left on the obverse; on the reverse, from left two right, two roundels, six wheat ears fastened together, and a sickle. Passem: round coin, 2/3 diameter of the daro; a two wheeled cart surmounted by three roundels on the obverse; on the reverse, from top to bottom, four roundels set at the vertices of an (imaginary) lozenge, a boat on a wavy sea, and a fish. None of these coins bears any inscription. If it hasn't been mentioned before, "Lev" is a slavic word meaning Lion so that fits pretty well... Havard _________________________________________________________ Alt i ett. Få Yahoo!
