For specific reasons it happens that Rathanos has been established as =20 an "evil" deity in our campaign - at least as the PCs perceive him. (When I =20 wrote him into the campaign, the only thing I had was a name in the =20 Dawn of the Emperors Gaz.) Rathanos was brought in through my =20 "Firelord Saga" campaign (see Vaults for details). As far as the PCs =20 know, Rathanos was an ally of Thanatos and Chemos in the "evil" =20 Nithia. For a long time he was allied with them, for his own reasons. This time travel scenario gives me a chance to make him a more complex =20 figure. Perhaps Rathanos is trying to get out of the triumvirate, as =20 he sees the coming disaster? But he has a hard time convincing the =20 alliance of immortals of his motives. This would work nicely, because the PCs are not the only time =20 travellers. Many years ago they thwarted the plans of the new =20 Firelord, a follower of Rathanos and the ancient Nithian Fire-Mage =20 cult (whom I combined loosely IMC). But the Firelord Daricus managed =20 to flee, and now he too is looking for the ancient secrets of Nithia. =20 The PCs will be expecting a fight, but perhaps Daricus manages to talk =20 them out of it and convince them that theirs is a common cause? (The big idea of the Nithia sub-campaign is that various factions are =20 looking for the Beast of Oblivion in order to release the memories =20 which it has consumed, and to destroy those of their enemies.) I didnt get around to reading your Firelord stuff, but is there any relation between the Fire Worshippers of Nithia and the Firelords of the Qauriks? > (The big idea of the Nithia sub-campaign is that > various factions are looking for the Beast of Oblivion in order to > release the memories which it has consumed, and to destroy those of their > enemies.) I love this Beast of Oblivion idea! Since your campaign is time travelling, have you considered having a connection between the Beast and the Egg of Coot? Eggs...Bead...sort of similar arent they? Just tossing out ideas :) Havard _________________________________________________________ Alt i ett. Få Yahoo! I nev= er saw the Nithians as a great seafaring race to colonize the southern cont= inent, Savage Coast, or even Thothia. Nothing exists showing they have a g= reat fleet (not even in the Hollow World). I used the idea of the Meditor = being their naval allies. This also gave rise to conflict as the Meditor c= eased to provide naval support to their outside colonies. This isolated th= e southern colonies to rebel, Thothia to remain isolated to later Entropic = intervention, and the Savage Coast areas to fall away as well. Nithia majo= r did not like losing these important colonies and became openly hostile to= all elves in the region. Ilsundal then began preparations for the elves t= o intervene, not because they became entropic, but because he wanted them t= o stop being hostile to elves. Later on, the Nithians became entropic, mak= ing Ilsundal the primary immortal to intervene as he had been planning the = intervention for hundreds of years before. Just a quick thought on this ma= tter, would the Nithians been corrupted so easily had the elves been so hos= tile? Could Thanatos start this seed of discontent with the elves in the f= irst place by having them gain some moral high ground and stop naval operat= ions of sending slaves and arms across the seas? _________________________________________________________________ Connect and share in new ways with Windows Live. http://www.windowslive.com/share.html?ocid=3DTXT_TAGHM_Wave2_sharelife_0120= 08= ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2008 20:25:55 -0800 From: Jenni Merrifield Subject: Re: Domain Spells Joe pretty much hit on the reasoning behind the sphere domain spells that were selected by the Mystara 3E project group.
