After 12 years DMing in the Forgotten Realms, I've finally decided to put= my Red Steel box to good use -- have it for half a decade now but never = used anything besides the audio CD. So I kicked off my adventures as a D&= D 4e DM in the Savage Coast. But there is no magical resistances like "10/silver" or "25/= +3" in 4e anymore. So... how could I adapt Red Steel to 4e? You might want to check out The Piazza ( http://www.thepiazza.org.uk/bb/index.php) and also the Mystara4e Google Group. There's at least one person doing exactly what you're talking about (using Red Steel, extracting the good parts and jettisoning that which doesn't fit the model of his game). You can mine that for ideas and hopefully contribute some of your own. In D&D 4e, damage resistance is indeed gone, but a lot of the monsters that used to have it now get either Vulnerability to the attack type in question (suffering damage, ongoing damage or a negative condition when hurt by the attack type) or Regeneration that's shut down for a turn by the attack type in question. You could potentially throw either onto enemies in order to make Red Steel weaponry more attractive. Another option is to make red steel equipment magical in some way - perhaps granting a (Daily) power to allow the user to reroll one attempt to confirm a critical hit, or for armor forcing an enemy to reroll one attempt to confirm a crit. > > Thanks in advance, > > > - MD > > > =3D=3D > Visite o blog Not=EDcias da Terceira Terra: > http://marcelodior.blogspot.com/ > > ******************************************************************** > The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp > The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com > To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM > with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. > ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Sep 2008 20:04:06 -0400 From: Rodger Burns Subject: Re: Does Immortals need to sleep? That one is easy to handle in any rule system. 2) It hits creatures that require magic, silver, or cold iron to hit. The closest 4e equivalent I can find is to have a hit by a red steel weapon negate any regeneration until the end of the target's next turn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marcelo Dior" To: Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 5:11 PM Subject: [MYSTARA] Red Steel in 4e Hello all, This is my first contribution to the Mystara mailing list and I'll start it with a plee for help. The only relevant passage I found is on page 74 of Book 1 of Wrath of the Immortals under "Regaining Temporary Power", where it is stated that an Immortal needs a full night's rest to regain any expended Temporary Power and that an Immortal who has expended all Temporary Power is at the point of collapse. I have no idea whether they require rest for any other reason. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Asaf Povonzek" To: Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 8:08 PM Subject: [MYSTARA] Does Immortals need to sleep? > Hello there, > > I'm a player in a long ageing group who play over in the same campain for > more then 17 years i lost the counting, > we play on D&D Classic, not the new version that come up after the Ad&d.... > we play on mystara :) > > few of the charcters in the group find there way's to become immortals... > do Immortals need to sleep? > do we need to rest? > and if not or yes - is it written somewhere in some book or guide cuz we > didn't find any comment about this > > if we study can we do it 24 over and over - or we do it as mortals 12 hours > and rest... and so on.... > > thanks > > ******************************************************************** > The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp > The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com > To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM > with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Sep 2008 23:31:38 -0300 From: Marcelo Dior Subject: Re: Red Steel in 4e Thank you all for the suggestions, I'll appreciate more, I'm almost forming a solution based on what I'm rea= ding here.
