Bachareus: A series of assasinations using poison spring up and the party m= ust uncover this new guild of Bachareus worshipping assasins and inflitrate= their snake guarded compound. Or play up his Betrayal aspect and have a B= achareus cleric ingratiate him/her-self into the party only to betray them = at some key point. Bagni: I liked his role in a ragnarok adventure I saw somewhere once.=20=20 Or maybe some troll is finally born (ie gifted by Bagni) with enough intell= igence and cunning to become a BBG. Maybe the troll sets up a pyramid of c= annibalism that allows a horde from trollhattan or trollheim to become a re= al menace to the surrounding lands.=20=20 Or Bagni infiltrates the tiger clan lands and has trolls start feasting on = the disposed corpses of sacrificial victems (after their hearts have been c= ut out atop the pyramid and the bodies tossed over the side of the pyramids= ) and so with a steady diet they become numerous, freightening the tiger cl= an villagers encourage their warriors to capture more and more sacrificial = victims in a ever increasing cycle. While Tiger clan raids have always bee= n a problem, the players must investigate when the sudden upsurge in the fr= equency of these raids and uncover the horrifying truth leaving them with a= dilema- Help the tiger clan by taking out the trolls, or somehow get the t= rolls to turn against the villagers of the clan, or worse yet face the pros= pect of trolls starting to join the tiger raids.... There was also a proposed Troglodyte group underneath Glantri mutating/evol= ving from the radience and from increased meat consumption, something I wou= ld think Bagni would be interested in. Brissard: The Alphatian patron of slavery.... Known in Thyatian as Hybrist= es. Perhaps he decides to expand beyond the alphatian lands and so tries to= either take over the Iron ring from Hel and co. or to push it out the from= Karameikos and supplant it with his own group of slavers who are more conc= erned with numbers of slaves than quality of slaves (at least when compared= to the Iron Ring). Jammudaru or Vaprak, in addition to Ogres is also the prince of Nightmares = and patron of torture. If he was to get word of the glantrian secret craft= of dream magic, watch out.... Or if he teamed with Bagni... --=20 Be Yourself @ mail.com! Bagni is an interesting Immortal: he isn't truly worshipped by the Trolls, so he must look elsewhere for supporters. He's probably not bright enough to create a new race himself, but he might try to expand his following on humans (as mentioned in the quoted post), Thoul (who are part-troll) or other creatures. Or he might try to "manipulate" someone to create a new half-troll race (like the Thoul, but breeding faster). I had beenhoping to save this for sometime when I would have more free time= to reply to any replies and/or feedback this (hopefully) generates, I figu= red we could use something to distract us while were standing outside in th= e cold awaiting the piazza's doors to reopen. Alfheim numismatics: Design thoughts/notes: One idea I had was that perhaps the elves disd= ain copper and use something else, but what? Perhaps Tin found near Dolos = (see the Geology of the Known World articles at the vaults) or some sort of= quartz from the east part of Alfheim? I decided to incorporate both of th= ese. I also could use a better idea for the name of this denomination. General Notes: The elves do not have much need for a monetary system a= mongst themselves, barter is much more common, but they do have a few coins= .=20=20 Piaster: Alfheim and Darokin have a currency union in respect to the G= old Piaster (40sp) which is produced by both countries, based on an older d= arokinian design. It is sometimes refered to as a friendship coin by the e= lves and was originally slated to be called an =93Eastwind=94 but the =93Pi= aster=94 name has become widespread in both countries.=20 Traditional system: The Traditional elven system is based on the Silve= r Ten=92er of 10 Tin ___ (name? perhaps =93er=94). While the =93er=94 is o= ften irregular in size and/or weight the Silver Ten=92er is often precise a= nd is usually highly polished and reflective in a stunning contrast to the = =91average=92 looking silver coins of the new system. The =91er=92 coins a= re very thin, such that they are unifacial (struck on only one side) and th= ey make pleasing sounding windchimes if strung together. Most of the tin c= omes from the mine near Dolos. There was originally a relationship between= the Ten=92er and a unit of account similar to the Callarii Silver Schillin= g (note- it was never an actual coin, only a unit of account), but after ce= nturies of economic integration and cooperation with Darokin, any such conn= ection or relationship is long since lost to history (and the Callarii unit= of account has also since drifted from its original value). Small change: Below the =91er=92 the elves use bits of polished quartz= in a small change system that the humans can never make sense of because t= hey can never tell why this bit of quartz is worth more than that similar l= ooking one. This evolved from an earlier =93marker=94 system to indicate f= avours owed between individuals or groups, but is now simply a =93remainder= value system=94 (RW inspiration: in some countries shopkeepers will give b= its of candy as small change instead of stocking nearly worthless small den= omination coins). The quartz for this comes from veins in the eastern hill= s. This system of small change is seen as =91quaint=92 and even archaic by= elves who have traveled more widely (ie adventurers). Tendrius agreement system: Following the Tendrius agreement Alfheim no= w also has the Gold leaf set at =BD a Piaster. The Gold leaf consists of 1= 0 Silver Petals or 20 Silver Seeds and all three are produced in Alfheim to= wn where the mint is run mostly by non-elves. While there is nothing wrong= with the silver petals and seeds produced by the Alfheim town mint -in fac= t they are always precise and accurate- they never seem to be as impressive= as the Ten=92er coins for some reason. Darokinian merchants have complete= faith in this newer system, and most other merchants have faith at least i= n the Gold Leaf.=20=20 Foreign usage: Alfheimer currency is rarely encountered outside of Alf= heim (and even with Alfheim barter is preferred). Foreign circulation: In Alfheim Town one can easily get by with Daroki= nian currency.=20=20 Summation: Denomination Value Weight Notes Tin =93er=94 1.5cp ? thin, unifacial Silver Ten=92er 1.5sp 40/lb Traditional coinage Silver Seed 1sp 60/lb Tendrius system Silver Petal 2sp 30/lb Large=09 Gold Leaf 20sp 60/lb Gold Piaster 40sp 30/lb Large, common with Darokin Traditional system 1 Ten=92er=3D10 =93er=94; Newer Tendrius inspired syst= em 1 Leaf=3D10 Petals=3D20 Seeds=3D1/2 Piaster; Thus a Ten=92er is =BE of a= Petal or a Seed is 2/3 of a Ten=92er (hope the formatting comes through) whatcha think?
