Here's what I wrote him: About the Lanarii. They take the path of peace and follow a rigid code of logic and order, so they are the most un-elf-like clan in existence. No one knows about them. Calarii documents such a faction that led a pilgrimage into the wilderness and were said to be slaughtered. Instead they ended up in Haven, a interdimensional city that floats somewhere between the reality and the realm of the Dreaming. There are other humanoids and demihumans that all live in peace within the city, protected by the patron Godddess. Their appearance, is total white hair, which is a unique feature since the clan has lived in Haven. Coming from this realm, they might have a vertigo like feeling, that they are in some dream state, where reality is not what it seems, and might be able to see sylvan creatures that live in the twilight state between reality and dreaming. You vaguely know of the Vishanii (Vyalia) and Calarii elves. You heard of another clan of a group called Dinarii, who are passionate, believe in strength through challenges, and embrace fringe alien magic said to drive most insane. Think of the Linarii as a cross between Vulcans, Jedi, and Vorlons (Babylon5). Dinarii are a cross between Romulans, Sith, Predator, and The Shadows (Babylon 5). The Linarii typically disdain violence, but when it is logical to kill, they will do so without hesitation. Other societies would view the Linarii as amoral. They believe that the absense of emotion leads to peace and control, and greater harmony in the universe. The Linarii would typically be LN, while the Dinarii CN. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Apr 2011 05:05:57 -0700 From: Joaquin Menchaca Subject: Re: Mystara-Hong-Kong: First Successful Mystara Start > > Wow. Mystara in HK. Two of my absolute most favorite places in any worlds. > > > > Sounds like a nice cliffhanger. Was that arranged or just good luck? It was totally by accident, but a rather uncanny accident. It was great, because I had to get re-acquinatned with Paizo. One guy knows the rules better than me, and he's like, really, a real attorny. So I'm catching up. I'm going to prepare some more material for the Caves of Chaos, and then also develop some random side adventures to thread into stuff and make it all work together. There will be an epic dagger (like Frodo's ring) that will be the main story arc of the adventure. It can kill demons, but at the same time, it opens the gateway to Hell. The Church of Karameikos will be pitted against the demons and such. And naturally, witch hunters, inquisitors work fairly well into this. Traladarans are totally marginalized and met with suspicion, often victims of the Church, but interestingly, the whole party are Elves and Human (Traladaran) with one a priest of Petra. So there may be some "man of the people" story arc to correct the injustices and root out the real evil. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Apr 2011 09:05:21 -0700 From: Joaquin Menchaca Subject: B2: Keep on the Borderlands I'll be converted this to DnD 3.75e. Then later I'll make my own "challenge pack", where monsters think, have plans, ambitions, and their members are skilled classes of different sorts. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Apr 2011 12:13:31 -0700 From: Joaquin Menchaca Subject: Sample of B2 Conversion (Room 12) I just started doing the Orcs. I did Room 12. I haven't figured out CR and XP, as need to revisit rules for that. I'm doing older Dungeon Magazine style stat blocks, as I don't like Paizo's new style. But I will follow their format of Defenses, then Offenses followed by other stats, but otherwise roughly keep with Dungeon Mag style stat blocks. (See below for example) Original Text ================================================= This large creature is clad in chain mail, has a shield +1 and carries a mace. He fights as a 4 hit dice monster, has 15 hit points, and adds + 2 to damage he causes when successfully striking an opponent (thus, 3-8 points of damage). ================================================= Pathfinder Equivalent: ================================================= Orc, Leader: Male humanoid War4; CR ?, XP ?; Medium-size humanoid (orc); Init +0; Sense darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision; AC 19, touch 10, flat-footed 19 (+6 armor, +3 shield); hp 28 each (4d10+4); Saves Fort +7, Ref +1, Will 0; Spd 30 ft.; Atk melee heavy mace +7 (1d8+5), ranged javelin +4 (1d6+5); AL CE; Str 21, Dex 11, Con 12, Int 7, Wis 8, Cha 6; Base Atk +4; CMB +9; CMD 19 Feats: Weapon Focus (mace), Dazzling Display Skills: Intimidate +5 Special Qualities: Ferocity (Ex), Light Sensitivity (Ex), Weapon Familiarity Equipment: Chainmail, Heavy Wooden Shield +1, Heavy Mace Notes: the orc leader can put on a Dazzling Display with the mace, attempting to demoralize (DC = 10 + HD + Wis modifier, Duration is 1 round + 1 round for every 5 in which the orc leader beats the DC). Should he succeed, all opponents within 30 feet will be shaken, i.e. -2 on attack rolls, saving throws, skills checks, and ability checks. ------------------------------ End of MYSTARA-L Digest - 21 Apr 2011 to 22 Apr 2011 (#2011-27) ***************************************************************
