I just got the latest MML digest, and somethings not right. About a third of the messages are ok, but a third are completely garbled ie Joe Kelly's post titled '15 years and running' reads: "Q29uZ3JhdHVsYXRpb25zLiBXaGF0J3MgdXAgd2l0aCBTaGF3biB0aGVzZSBkYXlzPyBBbnlvbm= Uga25vdz8NCg0KSm9lIEtlbGx5DQoNClRoaXMgZS1tYWlsIGFuZCBhbnkgYXR0YWNobWVudChzK= SBhcmUgY29uZmlkZW50aWFsIGFuZCBtYXkgYmUgcHJpdmlsZWdlZC4gSWYgeW91IGFyZSBub3Qg= dGhlIGludGVuZGVkIHJlY2lwaWVudCBwbGVhc2Ugbm90aWZ5IG1lIGltbWVkaWF0ZWx5IGJ5IHJ= ldHVy biBlLW1haWwsIGRlbGV0ZSB0aGlzIGUtbWFpbCBhbmQgZG8gbm90IGNvcHksIHVzZSBvciBkaXN= j bG9zZSBpdC4gUGxlYXNlIGFkdmlzZSB1cyBpZiB5b3UgZG8gbm90IHdhbnQgdG8gcmVjZWl2ZSB= 1bmVuY3J5cHRlZCBlLW1haWxzLg0KDQoNCg=3D=3D" and the other third alternate mid sentence between normal text and small sections of garbled, which makes it very hard to read. And it doesn't seem to be consistently the same posters are all clear or all garbled (ie I just picked Joe's message b/c it was a short one, another of his messages in the same digest was readable) so it's not something on the senders end. Anyone else getting this? I see the online archive is perfectely readable, but it's a hassle to try to follow it that way. ******************************************************************** The Other Worlds Homepage: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/OtherWorlds.asp The Mystara Homepage: http://www.pandius.com To unsubscribe, send email to LISTSERV@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM with UNSUB MYSTARA-L in the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2011 00:24:07 -0700 From: Greg Weatherup Subject: Re: Meaning of Mystara in Arabic & Ylaruam > >I just realized something. Here's a test- Dinar written in Arabic script should appear below this line: =D8=AF=D9=8A=D9=86=D8=A7=D8=B1 Dinar written in Arabic script should of appeared above this line. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2011 00:29:31 -0700 From: Greg Weatherup Subject: Re: Mystara Online Community History geesh, some of those events, I can't believe that they were so long ago. It seems the digest doesn't convert correctly between different character encodings. The message you quote is in utf-8. If you look at the source as ascii text, that's what you get. At least one other message by Joe is in us-ascii, so you should see it correctly. It works, but will probably be lost in the digest...
