what treasures do you think is in the blood sea with the sunken metropolis of istar?-im making a underwater campaign and using istar for ideas!
my question is why anybody had not gone after the wealth?-all you need is a water breathing spell/magic idem.-feril goes to the sea elf people!
things i think
the lost wealth of the city treasury
the gladator ring
the city its self
the magic idems of fisty and the clerics
jewels

Well, some of the companions wound up in the old city, after sinking in the Blood Sea. I don't recall there being much wealth around.

Well, before AoM, it was almost impossible to go down there, due to the giant whirlpool of death and the gods keeping a watchful eye over the Blood Sea. It's more probably in AoM, if you can think of a way to avoid Zeboim smiting you with a whale, or something worse. Not that there'd be anything to go after, since the Cataclysm did a nice job of destroying -almost- everything. If you've read Amber and Ashes, you'll know exactly what's all still left down there. ~_^

At the end Mina and Chemosh go down to Istar to find the Istar tower of High Sorcery. They go there to find some artifacts (don't remember what that was). Tower was there. And if you have read the TOWERS of HIGH SORCERY -sourcebook, you know the tower was used to restore magical artifacts before Istar sunk.

SO, basicly down there could be anything. But in the deep there is also other races (dragons,sea-elves, Magor, Qua-Toa...etc.), so most easiest magical items / Wealth is probably been collected. The more difficult are probably shielded with magic, magical guardians and still in the buildings they used to be.

Either way I would rule that there is not incredible treasures that easily taken.

There's a D&D suppliment coming out next month I think called Stormwrack I believe. It is supposed to be for sea adventures...and from what I understand it is supposed to be set up for both above water and below water adventuring. I'm very much looking forward to it. It could be helpful in fleshing out the denizens of Istar.

While I like the idea of a sunken Istar, methinks the pure phsyics of a giant freaking rock striking a city at a high rate of speed would vaporize said city. I know, I know, divine magic/intervention!!! It just kinda gets me, and since I am once again reading the Chronicles (comapanions just left the Blood sea, currently being accosted by Fizban and a toothless dragon!), it's fresh in my mind. I like the idea that where the Temple once stood is nothing more than a bottomless pit, and that in reality, the Lost city of Istar is really nothing more than scattered pockets of ruined buildings with air pockets. So long as the entire city doesn't become accessible, then they'll be staying true to what was written.

As for magical artifacts and treasure, sure why not? But remember, that stuff will be guarded by some serious baddies and denizens of the deep.

Indeed. And they should mostly reside in areas of the fallen city which are particularly dangerous... or at least in regions that are (initially) almost inaccessible without some considerable effort on the part of the PCs.
