Never had to deal with it. None of my players who have been Psions, have ever bothered with a Psicrystal.

I thought that might be the case! When playing a psion or a wizard, I've never bothered with a familiar, they have always been more of a hindrance than a help! I'm hopeful that the Crystalite PrC we're developing will undo that trend.

Curiously enough, my Wizards and Sorcerers have all had familiars. The Psions, Wilders and Psychic Warriors have never bothered with psicrystals. Maybe it is because Psicrystals call for a feat to use.

Is that so? I would have given it for free in my house rules, though it does sound interesting having a wild talent with a psycrystal and a few feats but no manifestations.

You have to have Manifester Level of 1 in order to take the feat. That means, from base classes, you need either Psion, Wilder or Psychic Warrior. However some Prestige Classes are also workable -- like the War Mind, for example. The Feat is in the Expanded Psionics Handbook. "Psicrystal Affinity" I believe it is called.
