I am running a Ravenloft campaign set in a custom island of terror of my own design. I intend to focus on the theme of backwater (literally this is set in a large swamp) cannabalism for my horror backdrop so naturally the idea to use a were-crocodile came to mine as a main antagonist. I have worked out the standard D&D stats for the creature and have been reading over the specifics of Ravenloft lycanthropy, and am currently stumbed for for an appropriate DR weakness and chemical bane. Silver seems 'wrong' somehow. Thank you for your ideas and advice in advance.

Werecrocodiles are mentioned in Van Richten's Guide to Werebeasts as having a weapon vulnerability to flint and a chemical susceptibility to mandrake.

Isn't there a island of terror like this already...

I believe you are thinking of King Crocodile in the Wildlands; there are no indigenous peoples there, just sentient animals, so no cannibals or were-beasts.

Some other thoughts might be gold or bone.

Gold. Gold is appropriate for anyone consumed with greed. Having a vulnerability to the thing you lust after has a certain "cosmic justice" in a gothic inspired world. Either the villian was a miser before achieving a cursed state or the werecrocodile has a "horde" of some kind like a twisted echo of a dragon. Gold is also the "noble" metal so in the alternative someone who percieves themselves as lord and ruler over a territory (doesn't have to be a darklord but could certainly apply to one) might also deseve this vulnerability. Choosing gold has the advanatages of being fairly easy to get a hold off while being an unlikely weapon to keep in the typical "golfbag" a RL party will want to develop.

Bone. Is a symbol of death and as such is also a good choice for a material to overcome the DR of a living creature. Bone is also a primative material to work with which might be appropriate for the crocodile which is often seen as a primitive hunter essentially unevovled from ancient days.

As for allaregens I tend to like Mandrake though its something of an exotic substance unlikely to be found easily...or be something to easily slip into someones food. Since crocodiles are low to the ground you might think about picking any fruit that grows high in a tree.

Just a few thoughts.
