I know that some people have copies of the book already and I was wondering when it was going to be available on the Mass Market. Is it a good book?

Man, what I'd give for a straight answer.

Wasn't it supposed to come out in May? Then June? Then July? Then August? Now September?

If there's delays, fine. But be up front about them and don't try to sweep them under the carpet. For me, this has become a serious gripe about SP. Looks to me like they need a manager who can meet deadlines. If I tried to pull this stuff at work, I'd be looking for a new job in no time...

If you did this for a living, you'd be in the same boat.

The book trade should have the book for sale in September. I have no idea what exact street date to tell you - Jamie's the one who can do that. This has been a particularly bad summer for game book publishers and their releases, and it's an industry that relies heavily on freelancers (like me). With any luck the book is released with as few errors as possible, which can be a challenge all by itself at times! But Holy Orders is a real product, one that many who attended GenCon were able to pick up, and preorders for the book have already been filled. So! Look for it as soon as the distributers can get it to the stores.

Cheers,
Cam

Tsk tsk, Jason. I would think by now that you would realize that it's okay to voice a complaint so long as it doesn't fall into the realm of harassment or badgering.

Wolffenjugend's (note the spelling) comments were just fine.

We probably should get back to topic, though. I'd love to hear more feedback from those who have a copy of Holy Orders.

Again with the 'spelling lawyers' :D

I am interested in seeing exactly what is in HOotS (hehe HOOTS! Cool! :P ). I have not really heard that much about it outside of this board and I have not decided if I will be picking it up yet.

Anyone with a copy want to give us a brief summary of the chapters in the book (ie Chapter 1- History, Chapter 2- Races, ect).

Does it have the true form of the gods? Like, what does Paladine really look like besides a mage and a dragon. Same thing with the other gods....

You'll have to forgive me on that one. When you have a name like Trampas, you're a bit sensitive to how names are spelled.

The gods of Krynn don't have "true" forms. Any time they interact with a mortal (or even each other, such as in the Abyss to discuss Chaos) they manifest an aspect of their power. They don't have any actual form independent of those they create.

I ordered it, and guess what. . . .usually ships within 3 - 5 weeks. That tells me that Amazon does not have it yet. Heck, they canceled the original preorder that I had because the company, and I quote, "Thought the product had been canceled so we canceled the preorder."

I can't wait for this, clerics are my second favorite class and anything that shines light on them for my gaming worlds, wether it be Dragonlance, Eberron, or a Homebrew, really tickles my. . . um. . . .well it tickles me.

Sovereign Press are the only ones who really know when/if you can see in it stores. Some people say they already have seen it. You'll need to wait until Monday to get an official answer, in any event.

Think about it this way, you have made it this far without the book, whats a few more days/weeks/months without it? Patience is a virtue, and though I am chomping at the bit for this book, I don't really think I should bite anyones head off for it not being available yet.

So every cleric of Paladine is a revered son or daughter?

Yes, pretty much. Obviously the lowest level clerics are more likely to be regarded as acolytes or initiates, but Revered Son and Revered Daughter are terms akin to Father or Sister in the Christian churches.

So then, in game terms, at what level would one get the title Revered Son or Daughter?

I don't know. Casting third level spells works for wizards of High Sorcery, so you could assume any 5th level cleric or higher could refer to themselves in this fashion. But it's not a level-based thing, it's a title.

For some reason this reminds me of Donkey from Shrek 2 :D Just kidding!

Since those of us who preordered the book have it, you can be pretty sure that the stores will have it very soon. The book has left the printer (obviously) so now it´s really up to logistics and all that.

It´s a very well written book, and I for one found it to be more than worth the wait!

Rather than ask the general Dragonlance community, why don't you just email them and ask? You can send questions about releases and orders to sales@sovpress.com. It's the best way to get an answer.
