What would be good novels to read after Dragons of Summer Flame and before the War of Souls Trilogy? I want something that gives the relevant background for the Age of Mortals; how the dragon overlords came to power, mysticism and sorcery, founding of the Legion of Steel, etc. But I don't want side-plots; I want to know if there are novels about the major events, like the ones I've mentioned.

In the Age of Mortals gamebook, I read about characters like Ferilleeagh "Feril" Dawnsprinter and Dhamon Grimwulf. Are these characters from novels? They sound pretty interesting.

You would want to read the Dragons of a New Age trilogy by Jean Rabe.

You might want to follow that up with the Dhamon Saga and Lake of Death.

Dragons of a new age trilogy (advances the main plot of DL with the Dragon overlords)

Doom brigade and Draconian Measure gives lead in for Draconian actions in the War of Souls (specifically Dragons of a Vanished Moon).

Legacy of steel depicts the origins of the Legion of Steel

The silver stair continues the tale of mysticism and the building of the citadel of light.

There really isn't any book that details sorcery (sorry).

Feril and Dhamon are originally described and are major characters in the Dragons of a new age. Dhamon's tale is continued in the Dhamon trilogy and Feril makes an appearance in the book Lake of Death which also centers around Dhamon.

Dark Thane is important to the current (or upcoming) state of the Dwarves. Depends on when your game takes place.

Wizard's Conclave, Minotaur Trilogy, Dark Disciple Series (not complete only 1 book out), The Clandestine Circle & The Linsha Trilogy, Lord of the Rose (changes the history of Solamnia a bit-brings in a character during the opening history rant that cannot possibly be there-so read that part with a grain of salt).

The Dragonlance Nexus has a list of books that depicts the novels in chronological order (only by year) but you can figure out which to read however you want.
