Hi ya all! I thought I would introduce myself to everyone on the board.

I currently play a black-skinned mul gladiator (8th Level) in Kalthandrix's campaign. I have been playing D&D for, well let me think, about four years now and Dark Sun for almost a year.

I am not really new to the board, but I have never really had too much to say as it seems that most of the content on the board is more for DM's then players.

Well- I guess that is about it. Hi to everyone.

Oh ya- just though I would also say that Shatter Star is also a member of Kal's game.

We have a great group- myself (my characters name is Daemon), Shatter Star (dwarven earth cleric 4/ psion 1- his character died in a Trin ambush a while ago so he is a little behind), Tem (half-elf psychic warrior 6/ rouge 3), and Ashryn (human sorcerer 5/ psion 4). Ashryn is rather strange due to the fact that due to his background story he can never cast spells as a perserver- he can only defile and is tormented by this natural power. He is a good guy (well neutral but on the good side), but his natural magic is twisted and he hates it.

Anyway I thought I would share a little more. See you around!

Too late for that- I lost my first character to a one of those. In fact I think everyone in our group has had at least one other character since we started playing. No one wanted to play a cleric at first and we died really bloody deaths- one by Trin, two by gith (there were 15 of them and 4 of us and we though that they would be easy like goblins), and I think my first character died (a humn bard) when he fell down a realllllly deep pit trap.

Thanks for the welcome!

Kamelion is right, that sounds like Lord Doomspike...cursed be his spikes! the cactus has traps and minions everywhere...

Hello DarkMul, welcome to the boards!
Maybe you've noticed the general low grouchiness factor of the DS boards, and maybe also noticed I made it spike today (Jedis are all liers: grouch-control is the last discipline they learn, not the first.) Pretty good place to browse stuff, all considered. Sometimes we bark, but we don't bite.

Its sooo true there is not much for players around here...although there are not that many WotC boards that are helpful for players.

Nice to see, a long time watcher speak up . Welcome aboard DarkMul. While it is true that these forums are more DM oriented, players are welcome too and it can be a great place to talk about any aspect of the setting that interests you or have any questions you have answered.

I only wish I could play in a DS game rather than running one, but alas those of us well versed in the setting and in pocession of the related game materials are few and far between, so consider yourself lucky ;)

I myself am fine with DMing DS. Its been one of my all time favorites to run. My campaign has been running for 8+ years now.

I'm not saying I don't enjoy running the game, because I do enjoy it very much. I guess we all just long for those things we can't have.

Welcome Darkmul, I present myself : Silly frog. You may remember me in such film as "The Silly frog menace", "Attack of the Silly frog" or "Revenge of the Silly frog".

When I explode, you can call me gunmore instead of Grummore :D

Oh, btw, I am running a new DS campaign, done 3 sessions so far. BUT I am an old DS fart...

I hear ya. I currently run two games myself (Dragonlance and Dark Sun) and a player in three others (Shackled City, Worlds Largest Dungeon, and Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil). So I get my fill of being a player and DM

Wish I could be so lucky.

Yeah, my DS game started back in 1995 and has some breaks here and there but my group always manages to come together to start up again. They're currently 15th level are on Dregoth Ascending.

Xlore- the sorcerer in my game was made in part with the material that you posted for your homebrew- so far it have been pretty cool. The player loves playing this guy and really gets into the pain and personal/moral conflict that his character feels when he uses his defiling magic.

So thanks for the idea!

DarkMul- do you think that we should change our votes just so he might not use these creatures against us?

Quite a few of you guys look to be DMing a game- Do you enjoy killing characters too or is that just Kalthandrix?

I pull for my players to live, but accidental death does occur time to time in my games. Usual due to bad luck, or player stupidity.

Look- it is not that I say to myself "Hum, I think I will kill these guys off tonight!" I have some really lucky dice that roll crits, a lot, and I see Athas as a place where knowing when to fight and being ready to run or hide is a more common then deciding to stand your ground and take on everything that comes your way.

I think my first character died (a humn bard) when he fell down a realllllly deep pit trap.

Funny you should mention that - I killed the first DS bard in my games in the exact same way. 240 feet of gasping shock followed by a wide-angle splatter :D.

Quite a few of you guys look to be DMing a game- Do you enjoy killing characters too or is that just Kalthandrix?

Setting out to kill characters is pretty poor form, imho. However, enjoying it when it happens? That's one of the perks of the job ;)...

Most of the people I gamed with feel the need to continually improve their lives and such, including myself. Which means they end up moving on me and such. So that's my problem.

Maybe I need to find some lazy teens that want to stay lazy till their early to mid 20s so I can keep a good campaign going. Of course, that causes other problems that would annoy me, lol.

Ah well, heh.

I think that's part of the whole reason for being a DM.

I don't go out of my way to kill off characters, unless of course the story calls for it, but I do get a kick out of it when it does happen regardless, heh.

Depends. If the PCs do something foolish (and I happen to be the judge of that), then the gloves are off.

My players generally kill each other off. :D

Like the time someone turned into a gigantic elephant (10,000 lbs. +) adjacent to an open pit occupied by a pc. The pit collapsed onto the pc followed by an enormous pachyderm! Squish! :D High-level druids are so much fun!
