Frank Mentzer is inviting Tracy and Laura Hickman and Margaret Weiss to Dragonsfoot over in this thread: http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=28816

While more known for Dragonlance, Tracy and Laura wrote B7, so we could say they have some relevance for Mystara. ;)

Anyway, if you have any questions about B7, now is your chance! Frank says they will likely be around this weekend, so it is better to have the questions ready before that.

(Also, David Cook and Frank Mentzer have their own Q&A threads there.)

Just noticed Tracy replied to my questions about Rahasia. I had no idea the name was an Indonesian word...

Really? That's sounds interesting! And that's the meaning of Rahasia? :)

Reading through the thread, Tracy Hickman answers one of the questions;
2) What was the inspiration for the module?

'Rahasia' is an Indonesian word meaning 'Secret.' Laura and I were tired of dungeon crawling and wanted to create a story-based adventure. Laura came up with the story and I designed the adventure around it.

Thanks!
BTW, where should B7 take place? IIRC, B1-9 placed all modules at Karameikos (including those that actually should take at other places, such as B3 and B4) and I couldn't find anywhere in B7 itself any clue about it. But it does have a unusual feel, at least for Karameikos... Pehaps Ylaruam? But, at the same time, it includes elven NPCs...

No problem! It got me curious too. ;)

I think I remember hearing about placing it in Selenica. It might have just been someone's suggestion that I read from Pandius. Not sure. :thinks:

I also remember this idea. It is not bad, though not especially likely either. Note that, given the middle-eastern tone of several names, the module elves could be recast as Belcadiz or Ispan elves.

The middle eastern/Indian influence has been introduced to the elves by Elyas the Sage who visited them decades ago (maybe longer). I guess it makes sense to have Elyas from Ylaruam or Sind, but the elven lands could be anywhere. My earlier works had them in the Radlebb woods, though IMO the eastern part of Alfheim would also work. Someone else suggested setting the module among the wood elves of Minrothad which also has some merit.

Well, it would help fitting the "elven" and "middle-eastern" part of the equation, I guess :)

It's actually a interesting idea... but then it should happen somwhere n the past of Ylaruam, pehaps before the Colonial Wars (500AC). But it's still quite interesting!

But probably close to Karameikos :)

Thanks Havard for representing Mystara with the Hickman questions. Interesting bits about Rahasia!

As far as the location, as far as I recall, its canonical placement can be pinpointed fairly accurately based on the connecting text of B1-9. Using official OD&D travel rates can help too. Doesn't it work out to be along the Duke's Road, somewhere in the northeastern foothills?

B1-9 states:
"...sends the players north out of Karameikos as they aid an elven village along the Duke's Road. Turning eastward at the major trading center of Selenica in the country of Darokin, they will wander the great Alasiyan desert, discovering the Lost City of Cynidicea.."

The first sentence refers to Rahasia ofcourse. The text in the edited version of Rahasia states that the heroes have left the Duke's Road when they enter the elven wood. I am leaning towards locating the module in southeastern Alfheim, though it could also be set in Karameikos.
