The Table of Contents for Dragon Compendium Vol I has been posted at Paizo's site.

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/dragon/compendium/tableOfContents

In the Design Diary, Erik Mona explained his system of archiving Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms content into seperate folders. Erik wrote, "I have compiled folders full of all of the Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms articles ever published by the magazine, and it is my hope that these too may form the basis of their own volumes (whereas this first is aimed at the most general audience possible)."

Erik also wrote that he hopes he'll be able to produce future volumes (if sales of Vol. I do well, and WotC approves the product).

That Erik is always thinking. Sounds like a good idea. Interestingly a compendium of GH Dragon articles would almost be a defacto published version of the unpublished 'Ivid the Undying'!

I myself would be more eager to see the Suel and Oerid god articles all in one place. The background info on these from 1E is still superior to any information in recent publications.

What a disappointing TOC. I was really looking forward to this product but I will not buy this pantload.

With all of the terrific articles in Dragon _THIS_ is how they decide to inaugurate the series? Save the good stuff - The Witch; Nine Hells etc. - for later "volumes" and include the Grandfather Plaque in the first volume.

This is money grubbing or numbskullery or both at its worst.

Bafflingly stupid decision making. And, of course, no Greyhawk. That too will be saved for "later" and "later" will only come if this blige first sells, so rush right out! Transparent attempt to string people along.

Paizo has no shame. And these are the people so many are panting for to get a GH license. I was neutral on that proposition but I think I am begining to lean to "not."

What a waste of potential.

Awww. Poor GVD. Sorry that you don't see anything of value in this book. I do, which is why I preordered it. As a bonus, I also look forward to the possibility of a GH compendium. Sure, it's not definite, but it's a hell of a lot better than the possibilities we were looking at before.

"A small dog dancing for sausages." That line always cracks me up.

Please. Buy the copy I will not be buying as well. That way you will be paying for the _possible_ eventual release of material that actually would interest me, including some of the GH material. I thank you in advance. :D

BTW, if you base your buying decisions even in part on "potential" follow up sales . . . NAH! That's too easy. ;)

Enjoy your compendium.

As much as I would love to see the old girl get published, I highly doubt that it's going to happen. I believe Mona is drawing upon previous material published in Dragon. Ivid was never meant for Dragon, nor was it ever published, two strikes that would most likely bar it from the pages of any greyhawk compendium.

Three chapters of Ivid were published in Dragon - the Adri, the Twin Cities and the Sea Barons, IIRC. The other stuff in Ivid won't be republished though, I'd guess.

It would be nice to see a GH compendium - esp. if the LGJ stuff were collected in it (as many here have called for in the past).

Like GVD, I'm quite disappointed in this ToC. The only thing of interest to me is the sha'ir class, and I already have issue #315. Good thing they didn't call it the Best of Dragon, that would just have been false.

Erik wrote, "I have compiled folders full of all of the Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms articles ever published by the magazine, and it is my hope that these too may form the basis of their own volumes (whereas this first is aimed at the most general audience possible)."

I've compiled all that Greyhawk articles from the Dragon Archives (issues 1-250) for my personal use. However, if what Mona has includes all the Living Greyhawk Journals, then this could be cool.

In your haste to post a returned, insinuated insult (I know I deserved it ;)), you apprently misread my post. I didn't buy the book in hopes of a poosible Greyhawk volume; I bought the book, because I look forward to its content as is. The support for a potential Greyhawk volume is just a bonus, meaning extra and not a primary purpose or intent.

Additionally, Greyhawk is not the only subject worthy of a D&D product. Some Greyhawkers seem to get caught up in that narrow view of the D&D game. I only posted in this forum to bring attention to the product as is and to inform others of the possibility of a Greyhawk version.

Anyway, I look forward to it, regardless of whether or not there will be a Greyhawk Compendium.

This series of books will be great for gamers like me, wo are new to D&D as of 3e. I don't have a personal collection of old Dragon magazines, and I don't care for wasting time to collect them and convert them to 3.5, which is what the Compendium series provides.

I don't buy Dragon. This looks just interesting enough that I might pick it up. It is certainly going to be a lot more enticing to those of us that don't drop down 40 bucks every 12 months on the subscription.

The Dragon Archives I referred to is the collection on CD-ROM, and it has a wonderful search engine, so finding them didn't take much time. And I just wanted the flavor, so I wasn't converting anything.

But, as you say, for those who don't have the Archives, a Greyhawk collection would be cool. And as I said, if it includes the LGJs, I might also be interested.

I could only hope that it includes LGJ articles, but I'm curious if they would only include LGJ articles that appeared in Dragon Magazine specifically.

It may not help in my current Greyhawk campaign. I use only 1st edition modules in a 3.5 game so any conversion work I don't have to do or research online finding a conversion saves me time. If it leads to a Greyhawk volume then that is an added bonus. :D
