I recently got hold of some of DC's old TSR Comics from 1989-90, and have been reading them, some of which were Spelljammer comics.

Has anyone ever read any of them? if so, what are your opinions on them, did you enoy them? or hate them?

Also does anyone know if they are considered 'Cannon' or not? and how many issues were there?

I would apricate any thoughts given

No clue whether or not they're canon. I'd probably assume not.

I've read the first four, and they were decent; I'm curious about the rest of the series.

There were fifteen issues.

Thanks, I couldn't recall the issue run...

Its a real shame they won't release them in Graphic Novel format....

I've read them. They're ok, not great, but fairly enjoyable. The changes in some of the characters came off as odd towards the end, though.

As far as canon, I don't think there's ever really been a discussion about their status. I don't think there's anything in the comics that is too "damaging" to SJ, so there's not reason to exclude their status as canon. I think they rate much higher than the last two SJ novels, at the very least

God, we need more Spelljammer fiction.

Something that shows off some non-Krynn-Oerth-Faerûn Spheres, something that showcases bad guys other than the Neogi-- Illithids, Scro, and Tenth Pit come to mind-- and something where the Elves get a chance to act their alignment.

There's just so much potential for the setting...

edit: Y'know, I think I'm going to head over to Future Releases and beg for an environment-book for Wildspace, or maybe a Manual of the Planes-style hardback for introducing the concept of Crystal Spheres into a campaign.

Not that it'll work... but it'll make me feel better.

That's the thing... in SJ, the Elves always seem to be LG or LN...(or some N and NE...).
Despite a few lines of fluff about how disorganized teh elves are in space, the majority of fluff etc. shows them as highly lawful!

GO FORTH and ask for that book!

I had once heard 18, but I've never seen any past issue #15.

If I recall correctly, they had written the last few issues, but never released them, so I think you are both right.

I just want to point out that there are quite a few stories over on Beyond the Moons, as well as the Jammers turn summaries (which are pretty close to stories ). I know new stories in paper-format would be cool, but we do our best
