My character (CN Elf Ftr8/MU8, wielding Blackrazor) just acquired one of these. I've got a staff of power and a wand of polymorphing that need recharging, but those seem like wastes of the ring's power. I could save the wishes, but there is a greedy halfling thief and conscienceless half-orc assassin in the party that might steal it before I could use the wishes. Any advice? Help! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : RedWizard Date : 04-23-08 05:59 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? Use a wish to have the party turn a new leaf:) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Extempus Date : 04-23-08 06:56 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? How about something practical? Perhaps use one to boost an ability 1 point, increase your hit points (ie, reroll low rolls perhaps), and one should be used for perhaps raise dead or resurrection next time you get killed (ie, something like, "I wish that, should I prematurely die for any reason other than natural old age, my remains will immediately be teleported with all of my equipment back home and then I will be immediately resurrected." You may need to add to it in case of disintegration, etc). I got that idea from Shairn Vel Valunar, a 14th level fighter in Iuz the Evil (p. 95), who has a +3 longsword that can cast limited wish once per week, ... and she has skilfully [sic] worded the limited wishes to guarantee that it's almost impossible to kill her. The DM should determine details if needed, but she has large saving throw bonuses against poison and other special attack forms such as paralyzation, and she has effectively used limited wishes in the form of contingency spells to remove her body to a safe place should she be overcome and then has a limited wish ready to restore her. The sword, with an Intelligence of 13, is smart enough to be able to make her very difficult to kill indeed and a disintegrate spell is one of the few things which might do the job. Needless to say, a single full wish should be able to accomplish for you what multiple limited wishes have for her... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : Etarnon Date : 04-23-08 08:55 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? I'd recommend you wish for something practical as well, and seek to raise your hit points or even your armor class. Failing all of that see if you can get yourself a level or three. Wish for the halfing to be much more generous, and for the half-orc to acquire a conscience and some empathy for others. Problems solved! Oh, yeah, and use the last Wish for yourself. :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 7] Author : goldomark Date : 04-25-08 03:15 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? Wish to be able to specialize in a weapon. You can only add one to an ability score per wish, if the ability score is under 16. After that it takes 10 wishes to get it up by one point. If the ability score is at 20, it takes 20 wishes to get it up by one. Source: wizard's handbook. I'm not sure what the MU class is, but if it is a caster, wish for more memorisations, like for example 2 more spells at level 5. If you cast and fight, you could wish to know how to bladesing like the a bladesinger elf, the kit from the elf's handbook. It is ridiculusely powerful. I need more info on the MU class. Maybe wish to be able to wear armor and still be able to cast spells. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : SamualT Barronsword Date : 04-25-08 05:09 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? If these are NPC's then that's another matter. What you need is a helm of telepathy or some item/ability similar to that which is attuned to your problematic allies thought processes, so you can stay one step ahead of them if/when they are plotting against you or the other PC's in your group. Maybe you could wish for something along those lines. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Varl Date : 04-25-08 11:15 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? If these are NPC's then that's another matter. I know. I was joking. Maybe you could wish for something along those lines. A good idea. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 10] Author : tvknight415 Date : 04-29-08 11:00 AM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? Hold onto it, and when the bad guy teleports away after being reduced to single hp, wish him back. The look on the DM's face after you defeat the bad guy five adventures before you're supposed to... PRICELESS! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Hans_Kelsen Date : 04-29-08 09:03 PM Thread Title : Re: AD&D Ring of Three Wishes - What to Wish For? Celestial booze and infernal girls. Or you could wish for unlimited wishes, stating that you donīt want to see time tampered with while you get more wishes (Once a player asked for more wishes, and everytime he wished something, I transported him back in time to the moment where he made that wish) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:22 AM.
