Just off the bat i'd like to note that the title is probably spelled wrong

Anyway I managed to find an old copy of the psionic artifacts of athas to add to my small collection (had a friend with some but no longer live in the same areas) and was wondering if anyone has thought of taking the lifeshaped items and grafts from the book (not the artifact ones the mini magic item versions) and combining it with the graft mechanics to produce extraordinary magic items effectivly converting them into a more 3.x friendly format.

Of course the feat would probably have a requirement of halfling, or prehaps trained by halflings but still would be a nice flavor enhancer. After all who doesn't love a face eating mask. :D

A few of us in the monster bureau are going to be working on just such a thing once we get ToA cleaned up some more and maybe do a little redesigning if I can convince others it needs it and can get my head into it.

But yeah, it's something I've been wanting to cover for awhile now. Not to mention some ecology type things like Dragon magazine has been doing lately, or something akin to Elves of Athas for Dwarves (which was originally planned in Kevin Melka's days at one point) and some of the other base and more exotic races, like Villichi, and Gith.

So if i play with it a little for my own personal use is there anything wrong with posting some of the results here. I noticed that the Con-evauth became the soarwhale in the Arms and equipment guide (at a sixth of its previous speed) Anyway at the minimium i'lll probably use something for me. probably a

Craft graft[Rhul-Thaun]

This feat allows you to create lifeshaped Tissues, Grafts and Tools

Special; must have training from a halfling, the last tree, A Meorty, or Excavate an untouched ruin from the blue age and find records of the processes involved.

Lifeshaper

Prereqs [Rhul-thaun grafts]

This feat allows you to craft lifeshaped creatures and producers.

Special: must not have any spellcasting or manifesting ability, The ancient techniques used to shaper higher order lifeforms reacts negatively to the entropic nature of magic and is to delicate for the raw forcers of psionics.

I think that magic and psionics already have options other than lifeshaped items. What i get from lifeshaped items is more that thier like a higher order of alchemy. Sort of like magic items but never more powerful than minor but extraordinary and stackable (to a point) in nature.

plus i like the idea of the bard pullling out some random item like the quickstrike sword. or a water sniffer.
