Howdy, I'm rather new to SJ, and i figured i would post the crystal sphere i'm starting my players in and see what every one thinks. Also, who updates beyond the Moons? It doesn't seem like therehas been any new material for awhile.

Here Goes:
SpellSpace - Temporary name, Any ideas would be appreciated.

Primary: Norsoong - Norsoong is a smallish, almost completely covered with water except at it's poles. The planet has a ring of fire around it. This ring extends almost all the way to the planet's surface effectively spliitting the planet in two unless a you travel by spelljammer. The Northern hemisphere has a single continent at the pole and a few scattered islands and archipelagos beyond this continent. For the most part humans dominate here, and Norsoong humans build some of the best spelljamming ships generally available. The Norsoong ships typically take after the fish native to the planet. The southern hemisphere has no large continents, but many marshy islands. It is the home to numerous tribes of Lizardfolk.

1st Planet - Auros - Auros is a large gas giant. The upper atmosphere of Auros is breathable, but as you descend towards the surface it begins to take on a toxic quality. Auros has 16 small moons most of which possess an atmosphere and colonies of some sort. The planet itself radiates heat to these moons. Auros is popular a a refueling stop for people who wish to avoid major spaceports.

2nd Planet - Culex - Culex is a large square air envelope which contains several bodies of various types inside it. Culex was once a large cubic planet and home to the gnomish race, but it was destroyed in a major cataclysm around 300 years ago. The remaining Gnomes have taken it upon themselves to rebuild their destroyed homeworld and work to do just that.(BTW these ARE NOT tinker gnomes, i hate those things) Why the air envelope of the origninal planet remained intact is unknown but the planetary debris orbits about Culex in a spherical pattern. This debris area is a haven for pirates, illithids and other undesirables, and is colloquially known as the pirate isles.

3rd Planet - Boros - Boros is shaped like a large pointed barrel. The planet's interior is riddled with cave sforming a massive underdark that is home to the dreaded Illithids and beholder races(who perpetually war for territory). Drow presence here is assumed but never confirmed. The planet's surface, unlike the interior is uninhabitable. It is completely consumed with magical blue flames that predate known history. These flames destroy everything they touch, although there are reports of large pyramids amongst the flames. Despite this, it is possible to land on the planet. Certain mesas and mountain tops extend beyond the reach of the fires and many of these contain passages to the interior.

4th Planet - Morag - Morag is home to three distinct cultures. On the surface Humans, of an Oriental Bent, raise mighty empires and talk overmuch of things such as honor and piety and spirits. Halflings roam about the planets deserts and Dwarves dwell in and underneath it's mountains. The panet is, for the most part, ery civlilized and quite a bit of spelljammer traffic passes through here. It has 3 moons. The first is a large Torus(donut) composed of fire. It orbits the planet once every 25 hours. The second moon is called the scorched moon. It follows an elliptical orbit that causes it to pass through the Torus once every 500 years. This happened only 30 years ago and the planet has since been 'terraformed'
and colonized. Mages are currently attempting to devise a way to divert the moons orbit before it next passes through it's fiery friend. The third moon is almost 1/2 the size of Morag itself. It is called Merag and is essentially a standard fantasy planet.

5th planet - Khalzar - Khalzar is a cold, dim, eggshaped planet. However, these fact do not preclude intelligent life. In fact, Khalzar is easily the most heavily populated of all the planets in the system. Unfortunately the entire planet is home to nothing but Goblinoids. Orcs, Goblins,Ogres, Kobolds, Scro, Orogs, and even Gnolls. Until recently, these races were confined to Khalzar by an IEN blockade of the planet. However, that all chaged, and very suddenly about 6 years ago when nearly 1,000 goblinoid ships took off all at once and completely detroyed the elven fleet. Soon after the solidarity of the spacefaring goblins eroded and now these creatures have returned to their old ways of fighting essentially anything that doesn't look exactly like they do. The skies above Khalzar are filled with battles almost constantly and raids re conducted on nearby worlds to gather slaves for the goblinoids lifejammer helms.

6th planet - Acsin - Acsin is a cursed planet, nothing survives there, including colonies. The primary planet is a darkworld. It is orbited by a fragmented earth-ring sytem and three moons. The ring system has three large chunks and many, many smaller planetoids. The moons consist of a fire-body, a small waterworld inhabited by Sahuagin and Kuo-Toa, and a third moon. This third moon is an amorphous air envelope containing many small asteroids. Some of these have pirate bases on them, but most are home to dragons. These dragons fight amogst themselves and the envelopes few resources. Some of the older dragons venture into space occassionally and when they do spacefarers tremble.

7th planet - Coh - Coh is a large Firebody orbited by two planetary rings, both composed of solid earth. The inner ring is the "homeworld" of the elves in the area. No non-elf has ever set foot on it. The outer is ring is also an elven holding although non-elves are welcomed on it's surface. beyond these rings is a small disc-world comprised of fire. It prvides light and heat to the outer ring. Beyond this are two moons. the smaller serves as a military base for IEN(Imperial Elven Navy, however this branch broke from the main IEN long ago over a dispute in tactics. despite this the two groups are still friendly with each other). The larger moon, which has an orbit exactly opposite that of the smaller(at the same distance too) is a very cosmopolitan world. It possesses only one city, but this city stretches completely around the moons equator. Various small-towns dot the rest of the world.

8th planet - The final planet in the system is not really a planet at all, but an asteroid belt. This origins of the belt are unknown but the vast majority of the asteroids are sizes C & D, and most have regenerating atmospheres.

I think Magespace would be a much better name than Spellspace
