What kind of music and instruments as well as dances might Athas have? It would most certainly be as varied as the city states themselves, but what styles and would their be a interest in cross culture music. What Cities would place more importance on the voice or the look of the singer and would bards be the sole "voice" of music or would there be professional musicians as in a SK's court or maybe making a living entertaining at a local tavern.

To many holes were left in the world then DS got cut..

I know there was a tread on music for mood settings but it might be some nice fluff additions for the world idea for plots even.

So what kind of music do you think the try reagoin might have

Music and Dance are very important in Nibenay. The Bard PC in my game right now is from their and he plays the Sitar. It seemed an appropriate instrument for the middleastern feel of the city, and for Raam as well.

In Gulg I would say that precussion instruments would be a big deal. Drums of all sorts, rattles, wooden xilophones, maybe even digoreedoos (spelling).

I picture finger symbols, tamborines, and belly dancers in Raam.

Draj seems like the least musical city-state to me, with Urik coming in a close second.

For the setting as a whole I don't think that pianos or other simularly large keyed instuments are very appropriate. Obviously neither are any of the brass instruments like tubas and saxaphones. Woodwinds of all sorts though they might be a little more expensive then in other worlds would likely be common. String instruments might use giant's hair, crystal spider webbing, or other weird strings and all but the largest of them seem reasonable (that means no on the Cello and Bass). Animal hides are common enough to make drums easy to make and it would be interesting to have some instruments made of bone as well.
