Ideas for my Campaign

Hello,

I am working on a Ravenloft / FR campaign using the city of Skullport (Undermountain Level 3) as the basis... ie, Skullport has been thrown into Ravenloft as a Pocket/Island/Cluster.

I've got some ideas of my own, but I'm looking for fresh things from outside my own head.

So, any ideas for hooks, darklord candidates, quirks the city possesses in the Demiplane, etc... are welcome and appreciated.

Well, first of all, you've got a lot of exotic races in Skullport that are all but unknown in the rest of Ravenloft.. OR are known but not exactly welcomed.

Drows would be mistaken for Araks. Illithids would probably be contacted by their kinsmen from Bluetspur. Etc...

Second, Skullport relies a lot on two things: slaves & commerce. However, if it's drawn into RL, its links to the Underdark (via Undermountain) and to Waterdeep would be permanently closed. No access means no newcomers, hence a disaster for the community. Not to mention the fact that food would soon run out...

The Skulls would probably become a kind of "collective" darklord. They have been trying to control everything and extend their influence, so being locked into a restricted area and not being able to enforce their weird laws would probably work fine as their personal curse.

Third, Skullport has access to a lot of magic, powerful one at that. That would make it a tempting location for RL natives who usually have to hide their gift for the arcane arts. Perhaps even a refuge.

If I had to do it (and I wouldn't..), I would probably place it under a big port-city. Probably in Darkon or nearby.
