If you're wondering what's happening at athas.org, here's what we're occupied with and how we are progressing. Q4 will see several releases.

Dregoth Ascending Part III: The final part of the Dregoth Ascending trilogy is in the works. After being ahead of schedule in the early phases, we have had a period with some setbacks. The deadline is December 24th and I'm determined that we make that deadline. The full title will be Dregoth Ascending part III - The Ascension.

Terrors of Athas update: The Monster Bureau is working on an updated version of Terrors of Athas. We plan to have it released some time in Q4.

DS Core Rules 3.5: Release 6 incorporated quite a number of small refinements to many chapters, along with new psionic powers. Release 7 will have fewer changes. Expect it to be released during Q4.

Advanced Beings: Avangion rules have unfortunately been delayed. Though, a Champion of Rajaat template will be posted within a 2 week timeframe.

Equipment project: The Equipment Bureau has been working on an Athasian variant of the Arms and Equipment guide for a year. The result will be released for public playtesting in late Q4 or Q1 next year. The title of the project has yet to be decided.

Product updates: Tyrian Conspiracy, Whispers of the Storm, City-State of Draj, Dregoth Ascending parts 1 and 2 all need to be updated to the latest iteration of the Core Rules. We're currently looking for people to assist us with this. E- mail jon@athas.org if you're good at number crunching and rules, and want to help.

Other projects: Secrets of the Deadlands, The Emissary, Lost Cities. These projects are either put on hold, or progressing slowly.

Thank you for the update. Btw, have you had any news from Brax? He is probably still very busy with RL. I was just curious and about is Lost Cities project.

Jon was kind enough to send me the Tyrian Conspiracy adventure to update the NPC's- I do not think it will take that long, but you never know (hoping by the end of the month at the latest). :D

It will be great- the Hack'em Masters will rise up and rule Tyr for a thousand years- or at least until they hack'em everyone in the city :evillaugh

Jon, I gave the core rule book to some friends, who are interested to play the 3.5e DS, and they played 2e DS, and 3e D&D in general. So they are not beginners.

The feedback from them was that the description of the defiler rules (chapter 7) could be more precise. They understand how it works after I explained it to them. But it needed further explanation. Not to mention, what if a newbie starts to read it, without any knowledge about the 2e rules?

Is it possible to have a clearer, more straightforward write-up on it? Possibly only adding 2-3 clarifying sentences would solve the problem. If you need, I can make an attempt for it.

Hi Nagy,

Could you post that question in the sticky feedback thread? Thanks.

Also, it's looking like I have time to focus on the site again.

One of two things will happen:
 • I will select a pre-written CMS (drupal looks likely) for the site. And wish that PHP wasn't such a crap language that finding a good CMS with a decent plugin architecture wasn't such a pain in the kank.
 • I will rewrite the site in Ruby/Rails, take it seriously as a learning opportunity, and actually manage to produce some cool, non-run-of-the-mill functionality in the site.

Gee, wonder which way I'm leaning? General-purpose CMS systems are proving to be a bad idea anyway ... generic CMS == generic site.

Well, no, because I'm probably going to move my business to the precious gem consortium (ruby).

Of course, coffee (java) still owns my soul (coffee) and my wallet..

Riiiight. Soy? Pfft.

No, you want to get them to look at you funny in a starbucks? Order the following: Venti chi with a double shot. It's good, I swear, but I havn't found a $tarbucks yet where the barista doesn't look at me like I've gone completely mad.

Yeah, digging the soy milk, what can I say I'm a freak (a freak that is trying to cut down on his fat intake).

As for the chi (or is it chai?), I will have to try that, sounds tasty.

ya know, i work for the 'bucks. (they offer full medical for just 20 hours per week. can't say no to that in grad school.) gingerbread should be out. and order what you like. those who work there order drinks more complicated than an advanced being write-up.

cheers

Yeah, I'm trying to get on PT for a second job. That or Borders downtown here in Indy.

gingerbread should be out.

I feel robbed then, cause I was just there earlier and they didn't have it, booooo!

Oh well, I'll try later this week then.

Yeah, I'm going to have to try that chai concoction flip likes, sounds tasty, and it's been awhile since I've had a good chai.
