Sadly, all my DS paperbacks were lost in a move, so I'm recruiting people to help me find this one paragraph that I only vaguely remember.

I'm pretty sure it was in one of the last three Prism Pentad books, but it might have been in RAFOADK -- but specifically, it's where one of the infodumping NPC's explains how Wyan of Bodach exterminated the pixies, not so much through military confrontation, but through destroying their forests with fire and defiling magic.

Any help would be much appreciated.

oh I remember when he said his mind was at rest because he had fulfilled his life's purpose. His mind was a desert landscape of dead pixies.
It's 2pm for me right now but unless someone beats to it, I'll give you the quotes when I get home tonight.

I think it might be in RaFoaDK.

Its in the PP, there is a part where either Aegis or Tithian fights Wyan using the Way. They mention something about killing the tree's that they worship and then the pixies just started to die off.

I had thought it was in the RaFoaDK when the champions where all sharing their blood but it was not at that part so I am pretty sure it was the PP books.

If I were to guess, it was in the the 4th book of the PP The Obsidian Oracle.

Oh yeah, that passage too. I'd forgotten.

How I miss the days when I could just head to the Waldenbooks and see the PP prominently displayed, and look them up myself...

I just checked in the 4th novel of PP that part where Wyan and Agis are dueling. Agis enters Wyan's mind using a kes' trekel construct and all he sees is a landscape of dead pixies. the Kes'trekel devours pixies but Wyan suffers no effect. He then tells agis how his mind is at rest because he realized his life's desire: to kill the last pixie. That's it. t doesn't mention how. it must be somewhere else that he does...

It is indeed from RaFoaDK, p236 to be exact.

As excerpted from "The Rise and Fall of a Dragon King" p.236

Hamanu stared at the Pixie-Blight. Stripped of illusion - as they all were - Bodach was a small-statured creature. He'd destroyed the smaller, defenseless race of shy, tree-worshipers not by slaying them but by turning their god-trees to sorcerous ash. While Hamanu wondered why such a coward would suggest carving their still-living creator into bloody chunks of meat, the other champions bantered about how Rajaat should be divvied up and which part should go to whom.

Here ya go, this is the stuff from the PP#4. Took me a while to type, so please dont mind the mistypes

As he spoke, the noble created a mental image of a carrion-eating kes'trekel, and a surge of energy rose from deep within his body. He sent the grey- featered raptor sailing toward his tormentor. Agis felt a slight tingle as the probe left him, then saw its wings flash against the gray irises of Wyan's eyes. In the next instant, it disappeared into the darkness beyond, carrying with it a part of its creator's intellect.

Agis was astounded by what he found. The interior of Wyan's mind was the most desolate thing he had ever seen, a vast plain littered from one end to the other with corpses of tiny men and women. They were about 1/2 the size of 1/2lings, with silver, ,othlike wings growing from their backs. They all had slender, sharp-featured faces, pointed ears, and pale, lifeless eyes.

There was nothing else inside Wyans intellect, in all the sweeping expanse beneath the kes'trekel, the noble could not see a single animate thought. Agis dropped his kes'trekel down to the corpses. As befitted its nature, the raptor dug into the grisly feast, swallowing the little bodies almost whole.

When there was no responce, the noble began to feel confused. The dead flesh was the substance of wyans mind, and to have it devoured should have caused him such unbearable pain that he could not help but counterattack. Yet the disembodied head seemed quite content to let the kes'trekel gobble down all he wished.

After allowing the bird to gorge itself, agis pictured the kes'trekel changing into Fylos animal brother. He felt a surge of energy deep within himself, then the raptors narrow back broadened into that of the bear, and its feathers changed to bony armor. The beast began pawing at the little corpses, throwing them aside and digging a great, deep pit.

The bear had dug down more then a dozen yards, and still agis could see nothing but more dead, winged bodies. By this time, the noble had burned up so much spiritual strenght that he doubted he could win a battle even if he did find an animated thought. He cut off the flow of energy, withdrawing his probe.

"satisfied?" wyan asked, his grey eyes twinkling with amusement.

Agis took several slow, deep breaths. "why couldnt i force you to come out?"

In a smug voice, the disembodied head replied, "my mind is at rest. I fulfilled my lifes desire long ago-when i killed the last pixie." wyan drifted closer to the satchel in the nobles hand, asking, "now, will you give me the satchel".
