When was Timlin Mazed?

Having debated running a Planescape campaign set either during the reign of the Expansionists, or during the Great Upheaval, I began putting together a timeline dating back at least a thousand years to when the Guvners first laid down the 'official rules' for forming a faction. But, I ran into a problem.

According to "In the Cage" section on the Twelve Fatols tavern, the cornerstone marks where the twelve Fatols met to beg the Lady for her help against the ever growing Expansionists. Shortly after, Timlin was mazed. However, another section of the same book features a letter written from the Lady to Sarin (Factol of the Harmonium) concerning Timlin. According to the Factol's Manifesto, the Hardheads didn't arrive in Sigil until 400-450 years ago.

In Doors to the Unknown, Timlin is featured in one of the adventures as a prisoner of the Mazes. However, the adventure fails to mention how long he has been there. He is described as being about 40, but we all know the Lady has a habit of making those she hates immortal so they can endure pain forever (ie the Duke).

Does anyone know anything official about when Timlin was Mazed, or the rise and fall of the expansionists?

Timlin was featured in an adventure in Well of Worlds, not Doors to the Unknown. Sorry about that.

It was 873 years before the reign of Factol Hashkar, according to one timeline I have saved (the Faction War being in Hashkar 129 or so). I don't know if that's official, but it references both In the Cage and Well of Worlds.

Another timeline says it was fifty years before the founding of the Fraternity of Order (the Faction War being 984 years after the founding of the Fraternity of Order).

So, either way, 1000 years or so.

Sarin is the current factol of the Harmonium, just before the Faction War. He wasn't around 500 years ago or 1000 years ago. If there's a letter from Sarin about Timlin, it's about Timlin in the present day, since he escaped from his maze.

That's about what I figured. That puts the reign of the Expansionist at around the same time the Fraternity of Order first set down the rules for forming a faction. Not that some of the factions weren't around before that, but they were probably just groups or sects. Do you think the official forming of the factions could have been a response against the ever-growing expansionists? A re-affirmation of thier independent status apart from the Growers?
