Hello everybody,

I am new to the board and relatively new to the DS setting so, to prove that, I'd like to annoy you with this dumb Q:

Where could I find any decently extensive work on the physical traits and/or visual portraits of the sorcerer-kings? I am talking about official as well as unofficial / amateurish etc.

The 2nd Ed. Dark Sun literature I possess, and I have much, is VERY sketchy on the subject and I could use some cues when DMing.

If you go here you'll see pics for 3 SKs, one of them being an invented SK (Barien, relatively popular on the boards). When I'll find more pics of the same quality - and as appropriate to the character of each SK - I'll add them for the others.

For the stats, Kalthandrix is working on Dregoth, which can be found in the Dark Sun Forum Archive on the main page.
There is a thread called Who's Who, by Khaine, lost somewhere in the maze of earlier pages. If you got time you can hunt it down by looking at each page. It contains an attempt to stat the SKs, at least with levels.

Nice pictures :D

Hehe, thanks man!
The bluish skin, and lack of large muscles, of the character in Brom's pic seemed perfect to represent Wyan since that guy was not physical and battled a fey race (blue anyone?).
Abalach-Re is self evident ;)

If anyone find others pics by Brom, or by other less known artist (such as the guy who drew the Barien figure), that they think matches the character of an SK, please send it to my email.

Wow Nice, nice, nice piks!
Why Pennarin - DoppelgangerEradicator, in the protrait, has a so sepentine apparence?
Do you mind if i use it for my version of Athena of Cambris (now Hautanee), Yuan-ti Inquisitor, posted in this boars in my tread about Ur? (I know yours is a male, but it gets really well the idea of an Athasian Yuan-ti.)

Wow, just had to tell you these pics are truly amazing. I'll definitely use them in my own campaign (I use a projector + a laptop to show scenary images)!

Sure, guarnasco, I do not have copyright over them.

DarkSoulman, glad to hear of it! If you want to find your own Athasian images, go here every day for 10 minutes at a time and check out the thumbnail images in as many pages as you can do in that time. (There are 478 pages.)
Just save the pics of exotic terrain that reminds you of Athas and send them to me. I'll add some if not all of them to my site.

Those are awesome pics man! They're really good for the visual aspect of the game! Sometimes, it's hard to put the things inside your head into words, and that's where your pics come in and say more than a thousand words :D

That Wyan of Bodach picture isn't a Magic the Gathering card is it? Found it. Lord of the Undead card from the Planeshift set.

Hello Chris,

a picture of Kalak (in human form) you can find in the Freedom adventure. Pictures of Lalali-Puy, Hamanu and Nibenay (in human form) you can find in the Beyond the Prism Pentad accessory. Nibenay (in dragon form) is in the Marauders of Nibenay adventure. Dregoth (in undead dragon form) is in the City by the Silt Sea box and in the Revised Campaign Setting. Borys is in several products, but surprisingly in different stages of transformation. Maybe the best picture is the Valley of Dust and Fire cover.
If you are lucky and have a copy of the TSR Catalogue (I think 1993, but I'm not sure), where the Rise and Fall of a Dragon King novel was first announced, you'll find there a prototype picture of the cover showing Hamanu. This picture never achieved to get on the cover of the final novel.
The Forest Maker adventure contains some pictures of Abalach-Re (dragon form).

Greetings,

me

I consider the cover of "Valley of Dust and Fire" to be the definitive picture of a full-metamorphosis, life-force-starved (I personally adopt most of RaFoaDK) Athasian Dragon.

Specifically, Borys of Ebe, the Dragon of Tyr, in all his power, but with his frame spare of flesh, due to the need to restrain his appetite and to keep himself near-exhausted to feed the wards that imprison Rajaat.

And I'll second the other comments... the pics on your site are wonderful. Two thumbs!

Browsed through quite a bit of pics on renderosity.com and found quite a few good ones. Only problem is, most of them that are Athasian in feel are of mountains. Oh well, still a lot of very cool pics.

I'd like to say that I find it a really good idea to tie the pictures to actual Athasian locations (like World Crown Mountains, Bremil Pass etc) like you have done on your Multiply site. I don't know how much thought you put into this, I think it would be brilliant to actually develop a "profile" for the different parts of the Tablelands/Tyr Region (and certainly others as well for that matter) - that would give each region a really distinctive feel, and imo be a great visual aid to Dark Sun DMs.

Trouble is, I can't do this myself for a while - I don't know a fraction of all the locations of the Tyr Region yet, and plan on devoting myself to developing the campaign, the cities and NPCs before delving into the terrain in greater detail...and there is a limit to how much time I've got

If you Pennarin, or anyone else, want to do something like this, I'd gladly be of service however. Otherwise, it'll have to wait for half a year or so until I'm more into Dark Sun and have more time
