First off...

Demon DR is generally bypassed with good, or cold iron.

Devil DR is generally bypassed with good, or silver.

Now, in yee olden days, the point of Baatorian Green Steel and Abyssal Bloodiron was to explain how they fought the Blood War without having everyone wielding a +1 weapon (needed at the time to bypass the DR).

So why is Abyssal Bloodiron treated as cold iron?

This means the weapons made by the demons bypass demon DR... but not devil DR. The whole thing is a bit odd... and of course, they didn't stat out Green Steel.

A quick search of 'Bloodiron' and 'Green steel' netted me nothing - I was wondering if this issue had been addressed before.

Actually, IIRC, creatures with 4+1 HD could hit creatures requiring a +1 weapon to hit, ones with 6+2 HD could hit creatures requiring a +2 weapon to hit, and so forth...There's a chart in the 2nd ed. DMG showing such...That's how fiends could fight fiends without magical items...

Abyssal bloodiron didn't exist in "yee olden days" - it's a 3rd edition invention. There was no official tanar'ri counterpart to greensteel in 2e.

Listen to Kwint; he knows what's up.

There are various houserules and such to make it so that greensteel weapons penetrate tanar'ri DR and vice versa with bloodiron, of course.

There's more information on Baatorian greensteel in Chapter 6 of Planewalker's official products.

Hm, my memories must have been off, then.

So what are the stats for Green Steel in 3.5e now? I don't think I came accross them in any of the books.

Look in the Arms and Equipment Guide, or the link I pointed to one post up.

I got internal server errors with that link...

Ah, A&E, of course... but that's 3.0e, isn't it?

Go to http://www.planewalker.com/products/index.php and click on "released products," to the left.

And yes, A&E was 3.0.
