Sure we've had this conversation before, but I got some new ideas, wanted to see what people thought.

Tanis - Nathan Fillion. Hes a younger Harrison Ford. He can go from being funny and light hearted to very intense, boardering on scary in a heart beat. He can play all the aspects of a leader that Tanis has and play them well.

Sturm - Clive Owen. Hes just perfect for this role. N'uff said.

Caramon - Dominic Purcell of Prison Break and Blade:Trinity fame. Big, square jawed, deep voice. He plays Wentworths brother on Prison Break and is constantly three steps behind him, having to have things explained, he fixs Caramon to a tee.

Raistlin - Wentworth Miller also of Prison Break. He always has that look of planning of something in his eyes. He looks a lot like Dominic (they play brothers on Prison Break, who have a very similiar dynamic to Caramon and Raistlin). He'd have to go on a diet and slim down, but any actor playing Raistlin would have to do that.

Flint - John-Ryes Davis. Hes the perfect dwarf, why mess with it.

Tas - Ryan Reynolds. Like Fillion he can go from actor to humor in a heartbeat. He has a very young face and athletic body that Tas would need. He just looks like a trouble maker and curious guy. They'd have to use some force perspective but hes perfect.

Goldmoon - Morena Baccarin. Beautiful Woman (which helps) and has a different look to her, not quit white, which I think would be good for the barbarians. Has a very sensual look and feel to her which Goldmoon should have. Seems older then her years on screen.

Riverwind - Oded Fehr. Hes got the perfect look and deminer to play Riverwind, can clearly pull off the action and is good enough an actor to carry his weight in the first movie. Might have to make him look a bit taller then he really is.

Laurna - Jennifer Morrison. Shes very slim and extremely attractive. Shes young and could very easly play the spoiled Laurna in the first movie. However she's a very good actress and has shown (mostly in House and Urban Legends) that she can play tough as well (emotionally and physically). Perfect for Laurna.

More to come.

Sure we've had this conversation before,

I've traced it back to at least 1999. ;) :D

Sorry, just kidding. It's a very long-debated topic, though many still have fun with it.

Nathan Fillion as Tanis? From brown coat to buckskins. Interesting...

Nah, Nathan is better cast as Caramon. I'd cast Dominic as Riverwind.

And Scarlett Johannsen is still my choice for Goldmoon. Morena is better off as Alhana.

Let my hair grow a little longer, my beard too, and I lost some pounds and you'll see Tanis. Hehehehe.

I know it doesn`t make any sense for you, but one or two years ago, my hair was longer, my beard too, and my DM said someday: my god! You're Tanis! I don`t like half elves very much, but I could not say that I was looking just like him that time.

I can`t find anyone that could make a good raistlin.
We just have to pray to George Lucas keep his hands off the casting, or you know what happens with the most important characters.

Fillion?...Hehe I can see it now...in Tarsis...

TANIS: Tasselhoff!! How did a riot get started?! Were there Krynn monkeys? Some terrifying Krynn monkeys maybe got loose?

Tanis: Sturm, these dragonarmies are straining my considerable and rather legendary patience. What do you s'pose we ought to do about this perdicament?

Sturm: Some folk just need killin', cap'n.

Tanis: I reckon so.

Can someone please mention someone other than John Rhys-Davies for a dwarf? Just once?

Seriously, Flint and Gimli are completely different people. Gimli is an elf-hating battle-crazy youngling, while Flint is the experienced voice of wisdom who lived with elves for years, would rather sit by his fire (if his sense of responsibility would let him), and has dislike for mages and kender (both of which deserve it, btw).

Oh yeah, they're at least a century apart in age as well.

Nathan has that perfect - I may not be the perfect leader, but I'll do whatever I F*@#ing have to do to make sure everyone here lives - attitude that Tanis should have. Dominic looks a lot like Millar, people need to remember, Caramon and Raistlin have to look a like, that really limits the casting choices.

Ben Stiller as Raisltin, and Owen Wilson as Caramon. Or maybe the other way around.

What is it with you and Prison Break? Are you related to the producers or something?

Dominic's best work was on John Doe, in which he looked very unlike Caramon.

Cheers,

Flint - John-Ryes Davis. Hes the perfect dwarf, why mess with it.

And then you woke up from your casting couch dream and realized that John does not wish to go under heavy prosthetic makeup again. :P

As much as I like his portrayal of Gimli, I'd like to think that other actors can be cast as a dwarf like Flint, though the one in D&D film is ridiculous.

No matter what I do I'm a big fan of letting OTHERS do the work when possible, the casting people on Prison Break found two actors that look very much alike. One is bigger, more physical the other is smaller and more of a planner and a thinker. The work is done, we have two actors perfectly suiting for those roles right there.

And then you woke up from your casting couch dream and realized that John does not wish to go under heavy prosthetic makeup again

If I was really making hte movie that might concern me. But since I'm not, who cares. Hes still the perfect dwarf.

Elistan - Hugh Laurie. Fantastic actor (just look at his range of work) that has that sense of both age and strength that Elistan has to have. He's also good looking (or so I'm told) so the jealiously of Tanis would/could be believable.

Maquesta - Jada Pinkett Smith. Shes the perfect tough, no nonsence woman.

Alhana - Monica Bellucci. Beautiful woman. She's not as young looking as most of the other women would be, and she shouldn't be. Plays that "alouf" woman very, very well.

Tika - Jewel Staite. I wanted to stay away from her since she'd be the 3rd cast memember from Serenity/Firefly but I can't think of another actress that would be as good. She just looks sweet and innocent but can also be "hard", strong woman when she needs to be. Shes very attractive but not beautiful like the other women in the cast are, which Tika shouldn't be. She also isn't "Hollywood" skinny, which again is perfect for Tika.

Ariakas - Willem Dafoe. Can play both the physical and mental aspects of the character (fighter and mage). Has an intensity about that could create fear around the character almost instantly.

Derek Crownguard (I believe I got the lastname right) - Crispin Glover. Great at playing the slightly crazy characters. I think he could come in and order Sturm around, but also give weight to the crazy knight that appears in the High Cleric's Tower, theres just somethign...."off" about him.

Fizband - Christopher Lyod. He's be playing an old, crazy man. N'uff said.

Gilthanas (sp) - Cillian Murphy. Hes good looking, seems smart and not overly physical as Gil should be.

Theros Ironfeld - Michael Clark Duncan. He was born to play that part.

Maybe, but Nathan doesn't look good in a reddish-blonde hair with beard. Too American, too One Life to Live Southerner.

When has he ever had red hair and a beard? And he SHOULD have that kind of a look to him. Hes got long hair and wears leather (in many pictures, leather that looks very native american). Hes a man of the land, whos more at home outdoors. Hes got the right intensity, mix of dry humor and acting "chops" and physicalcality needed to play Tanis.

Um, apparently you, since you [re]started this discussion topic.

But I'm not "REALLY" making the movie, so I don't care what his real life problems may be, he'd be the first choice.

Only if you're half as good as Mark Hamill when he auditioned for Star Wars in the 1970's...

But for now, I prefer Jennifer Connelly's pale-skinned husband, Paul Bettany of Knight's Tale and Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World.
