Has anyone else here seen the movie Blade 3? In it a group of vampires explore an ancient ruin in Syria and find the original vampire. Now I know the vampire doesn't traditionally fit in Darksun but I had an idea. PCs explore some green age ruin and release the last Vampire who has been in some sort of suspended animation.

Like my Yuan Ti thread in which I mentioned I had the Serpent Kingdoms book I have Libris Mortis. I really hate having books that I can't use. So how do others feel about this idea? Is there room on Athas for 1 Vampire left over from a previous time?

that would open a dangerous grave

you have to figure how was the green age society and ho vampirism adapted to the psionic nature of the setting, did it survived the cleansing wars? how?

Brun01 had a version of an athasian vampire-like creature that he was working on and a bunch of us threw in our spare change on- it was like a month or two ago and should be easy to find.

Pennarin devised a really cool monster called the Kraai, that was modelled on the idea of an Athasian Vampire. We've been fine-tuning it when we have the time (which has been something like never in recent months) - it's a great concept.

Well he should post it out here on the board and I am sure it would get the hefty thrashing into shape and be finished.

Ahem, well, that's probably largely my fault. I owe Penn another edit sweep on the kraai and haven't been able to find the time to do it for what seems like ages (he can come and humiliate me with actual figures here, I'm sure it's a wholly unreasonable period :embarrass ).

You're a slacker Kam, always was and always will be. :P

I'm kidding - regulars here know Kam is a very productive athas.org member.

I posted some stuff on athasian vampires ages ago.... in it, my vampires were connected to a plan called the 'white' which provided them fairly awesome powers. They lived in an athasian underdark, and couldn't venture onto the surface as the connections to the white were somehow tied to the glow given off by the glowing rocks in the athasian underdark.

In my version, Rajaat sent several "Destroyers" to wipe out the vampire nations, as he knew they were much stronger than any other race on the surface.

None returned.

I'll see if i can did it up and post it. It featured a system of draining life force (HP) from living creatures to power spells ala PSP system etc etc

Actually in all seriousness this thread is resparking an idea I had for an Athasian vamp.

I like what Bruno did but I think it's still missing some things, so maybe I will get something posted on my site this week in between looking for a job and all that jazz.

I wish Penn would just post what he has done and we can help him out in the editing process since Kam is a busy elf.

:D

Kam has been indispensable help with the kraai, carrying its conversion by himself after I horribly failed (with the help of others) at bringing it to life. I just hang back and throw feedback at him, and he takes it like the trooper he is. If the process has taken so long it’s partly because not long after he finished with the kraai he went on to revise TotDL, which threw a good chunk of what he just did for my monster out the window.

Now I may be foolishly hanging on the hope of eventually seeing the kraai in TotDL, but in any case all the modifications to be brought to the monster will be relatively easy for Kam to do since he intimately knows what changes he brought on to TotDL.

As such there's no need at this point to post it on the boards, but later on - for further feedback - why not. I would just like an eventual shot at TotDL since I do believe very strongly in that undead, that it’s a definitive classic even though it’s a new creature. It definitely has its place somewhere.

If by itself it fails to crawl into the pages of TotDL, the kraai will be inserted in a net-project of mine and Seker.
