There's a chance to vote for Mystara in this poll on the Enworld boards.

It's just a shame that it's not WotC asking. ;)

Maybe the three Birthright people that post on the Wizard's BR boards are voting multiple times?

Seemingly, someone already voted using my IP (it says I'm not allowed to vote)...

Not to make you sound stupid or anything, but you were logged on, right? ;)
(this came to my mind because that's what happened to me!)

Everyone! Go vote! We're out numbered by 2-1 by both Dark Sun and Planescape! I don't understand how, but it is true! Now go do your civic duty!

That's because DS and PS had much more distinctive brands and a familiar due to the striking art (Brom, DiTerlizzi, etc). The Known World was on the way out by the time this trend of more distinctive marketing was used on DS and PS, so they are more widely remembered. They get more of the "Casual vote" than the Known Wold.

Anyway, by now we are just 6 votes below Birtright, and 15 votes below Spelljammer. Not bad, I must say.
I'll do a little advertisement among friends... Maybe they'll make the difference!

Not bad for following Spelljammer. But Birthright? BIRTHRIGHT?!?!?!

Mystara isn't big on that site, it's bigger here than it is there, so that isn't surprising. I rekon that a similar poll on an appropriate board here would be different.

Done!

By the way, I'm much more surprised that Spelljammer and Lankhmar got all these votes - the former was nothing more than a set of rules for adventures in space, the latter a mini-campaign setting centered around one city...

Birthright has nevertheless the proper status of a full-fledged campaign setting - political actions, ruling, leading armies... FUN! -, and is moreover one that I like very much! ;)

Anyway KEEP VOTING FOLKS! Mystara must rule! :D

Its dark sun that confuses me. I never saw any attraction to that setting; by all means, have settings with hard, nasty parts in them (heck, we've got Sind, the Great Waste, etc), but a whole setting of it... Naah, I don't get it.

It isn't going to happen anyway, WOTC aren't currently likely to remake these older worlds.

Any more news on the Hackwurld of Mystaros?

I've never played in DS, but beyond the excellent marketing with Brom art creating defining images for the setting, Dark Sun introduced the idea of playing in a world where resources were scarce, and everything was a little different. Also, it was a setting geared towards high level play, it incorporated psionics, and expanded on all of the classes providing new option to each of them, and allowed all spell casters to use up to 10th level spells. It also had rules for becoming Dragon Kings (Wizards) or Elemental Lords (Clerics) which was something of a paralell to Mystara's immortals.

I could see how this can appeal to an audience, and DS will never fall into the pit fall of people asking what the difference is between that setting and FR, GH and BR, like people probably do about Mystara.

Mystara has lots of things that set it apart from other settings, but these elements are a bit harder to define, and even fans dont seem to agree what elements define Mystara.

Also we have the trouble of never having been properly marketed, and the disaster that was the launch for AD&D (CDs and all). Also, I have the impression that Mystara often was in the care of people who knew little of it and never had any clue why people liked it.

It isn't going to happen anyway, WOTC aren't currently likely to remake these older worlds.

Probably not. 3rd party companies might do it though, although Mystara wont be a likely candidate.

I'm not sure how much I am allowed to reveal at this time, but from what Ive been hearing recently, I wouldn't get my hopes up for this one.

You see, I had so hoped that I'd heard wrong on that one. Oh, well
