I remember awhile back someone was converting the Psionitrix adventure to 3rd ed. I am currently bringing my 2 ed campaign to 3rd ed. The PC's have already destroyed the Psionitix and I was wondering if anybody has some home brew 3rd ed stuff on what powers the shattered Psionitirx would still have?

I no longer have the Artifacts of Athas book and I remember it mentioning that after the psionitrix has been broken some powers remained in its shattered crystals.

I think Kal is the one you need to talk to.

Well aside from the material that I posted on the thread that Nytcrawlr has the link for, I have not really made any plans on converting the adventure- my idea was more of a "Return to..."

IIRC, from the PAoA and how some material was converted to 3.5, the shards of the broken artifact should work simular to a cognitized crystal (?) that would be self-restoring in the number of PSP's they would give a PC.

Now my idea with the Crown of the Dread Master or the Dread Masters Crown (undecided yet), the shards of the Psionitrix were placed in a crown and some choker/necklaces- with the idea that it would enable those with the shards the ability to cover an area with the psionic disrupting effect simular to the one the artifact originally had- with the shards on the chokers acting as perimeter markers for the effect. Well it was discovered that while use it could do this to some degree of success, a side effect was that the wearers of the necklaces had their ability to manifest powers totally at the whin of the crown wearer- with him having access to all of their combined PSPs and powers.

Well the most of the higher ranking (and surviving) members of the Order did not like this, but one member did- he was one of the few surviving psionicists that was there when the artifact was shattered and later helped gather the shards and forging the crown and necklaces. So he stole the crown and was able to excape with it and the necklaces too- but not before he overwelmed on newer member of the Order and forced one of the necklaces around his neck- thereby ensuring that that he had someone within the Order who would provide him with aid and information on the Orders movement and activity to recover the crown.

Since his escape, he has been able to enslave three other progressively higher level psions of the Order, and he is planning on saving the remaining two necklaces (there are 6 total) for the leaders and his right hand man.

Now this is only a kind of background for the artifact I am making- but it would make a cool arch-villian type of adventure if the PCs needed the shards of the Psionitrix to help them cure a psionic plague or fight off the advance forces of the Kreen Empire.

I actually had a story arc planned which involved one of the rhulisti aboard the Messenger trying to recreate the psionitix in order to assert dominance over the thri-kreen of the Kreen Empire.

Never got further than a preliminary outline though.

that seems like the only benefit one could get out of a piece of the original crystal. I like your idea of when all the pieces are linked that they provide a similiar effect as the original whole piece (w/ boundaries based on the positioning of the smaller pieces)

fight off the advance forces of the Kreen Empire.

sweet!!! :evillaugh

thank you

I do what I can!

Maybe if I ever get some of my other projects finished I will actually get around to typing out some of my adventures and posting them somewhere for the community to use.

I will be starting on the idea I ahd for an item called Dangers of Athas with small random encounters and small adventure locations.

Ya - He was in process, but was put on hold as I waited to see what the Dregoth looked like in DAIII- I am planning on finishing him soon, but I think the will have more like 55 or so levels vs the 70 I was originally planning.
