Ok, so I've been a fan of the PS setting since it came out in 2nd ed with the Plane of Chaos box set, and have played alot of it. I am now, just learning about the 3.x conversion and undates because I got out of Rping for a few years.
Back when we were playing on a regular basis, some friends and I started making a futre PS setting. But it never got completed. Now that I am reading about all the new stuff I again am super excited for the concept of a future Sigil.
Think of it....It would be like Eberon meets Planescape. It would still have everything from the orignal setting but it would all be made into a future setting. along with what you would expect from a futurized version of the setting could be some cool changes:
1)Modrons: (i tought of this first last night while reading about Mechanus) rather then just being the simplified robots that they are now, they could be far more advanced. More like Cyborgs. And the Plain of Mechanus would have evolved as well. Rather then being all gears and what not, it could be said that the Modrons found away to use their gears as a matrix grid work of realities.
2)Fiends: They would be more like Gangsters. Drive Limo style cars or hovercars(whatever floats your...boat).

Ok, enough examples of creatures, lets move onto what could be expected.

(your post next)

Edit: Found a site dedicated to this very thing. so if you think this is a cool idea go to Planewalkers web site and check it

I think you're under some confusion about Eberron. In spite of what many say about it, Eberron isn't futuristic. It's got "magitech," but there are no cars or guns. Most people are still peasants or artisans. The difference is that a village may be able to get some magewrights to be able to ensure good rains for the crops. The warforged are not cyborgs. They have more in common with golems. There are the magical equivalent of lightning trains, and skyships, but there is nothing like a car. One could be made, perhaps, but it would be impractical. If it were made, if it would look like a very early horseless carriage more than a limo.

Fiends could be gangsters, but only some of them. I think that Gehreleths and Yugoloths could be good gangsters. Baatezu, on the other hand, wouldn't stoop to that. They should be more like the Soviet KGB operatives, IMHO. Tanar'ri also wouldn't make good gangsters: they would be good con men, extorters and crooks, but on a more individualistic basis than something like the mafia.

In short, I think that the urban punk feel of Planescape (or at least Sigil) is already on the tech level/feel of Eberron. They both feel more like the modern world than Greyhawk or Forgotten Realms, but Eberron isn't more modern in "feel" than Planescape.

Or at least, I don't think so.

You are toatlly right. I just got the Eberron Campaign setting yesterday, and my concept of it was way off. I thought that it was more furture. Its not. Its still super cool, just not waht I was thinking. But anyways, the reason for my post wa the concept of a future sigil....and its being worked on. Yay
