Antalus was located near Kalidnay according to I believe the Wanderer's chronicle. I have it placed on the Peninsula east of the Pristine Tower. Does anyone have any information regarding this city-state? i hated putting it so close to Celik, Balic and Kalidnay. Ideas?

Well, the Sea of Silt doesn't seem all that near to Kalidnay if you ask me, but hey whatever floats your boat man> :P

Anyhoo, I know I recognize this name, but can't recall from where, so could you please list your reference (ie, page #).

As far as placement ideas: Celik is said to maintain a trade-route that runs southwest through Durg's Puddle. Perhaps this trade-route continues on to the place Antilus once stood?

Are you sure Antalus is found it WC? I have done a search for it in the two box set PDF files I have and it was unable to find it.

Located in Terrors beyond Tyr page 71 I.E. Proctor Draelto of Antalus; " Drelto almost never emerges from his tomb in the mountains north of the lost Oasis unless the major laws of Ancient Antalus are broken. etc..." "(As no public halls from Antalus remain, Drelto considers the public buildings of nearby Fort Melidor to be part of his domain. The residents of the Fort keep this custom to appease the ancient undead)." I have researched in debt, but could have sworn there was another reference as well. I'll keep plugging. any more ideas? no idea what the "waroverlord" is. nothing to do with this I presume. as is the norm

Oh don't be so sure Galek, until you explained yourself it all sounded like The WarOverlord all over again. (For your information that is the name of a board member who affirmed against all evidence that he once stumbled in a store on a DS supplement no one had ever heard of before. He browsed it, failed to buy it, and was quite convinced years later that we were all wrong in our denial of its existence. Sounds Black Knight-like doesn't it? )

As for the reference, well thanks, now it makes sense! I still don't recall Anthalus, nor do I recall any of the other names sprinkled here and there in the monstrous compendiums and various supplements. I don't recall them because they are not much important.

You assume Anthalus was a city-state, while it probably was a small city or big town, why its ruin is not even on the map. There were also cavern people that one raaig still protects to this day, and plenty of other places like that, unknown places not on the map.

Ahh, yes. OK. I knew I recognized that name. So, seeing as how he's now connected to Ft Melidor, presumably that is the closest present day location to Antalus. So, my idea (and surely yours) of the placement is far off. Fort Melidor is just barely NW of the Kalidnay ruins, so I'd say Antalus must've been somewhere along the river that runs between Lost Oasis and those (unnamed?) mountains.

IIRC The Waroverlord was a member a while back, who posted all kinds of fanciful ideas, insisting he had seen/heard it from some official source. Months later it would be revealed to be totally hogwash.

Pennarin, Thanks for the info on this waroverlord guy. No clue. I never said it read as a City-state, like I stated previously, I thought I read of it elsewhere and this reference was to a city-state. I was away from Dark sun for a while (I was in Iraq). I am trying to finish up some old ideas from before my service there. "Antalus" is a series of catacombs one would presume, or at least it is in my campaign. I didnt want "another city-state" near to the others on Athas. (Too crowded-IMO). The Meortie still haunting this place might not be "alone". hmmmm might be a place to explore. As for the fanciful ideas, this is still a "role playing game right"? LOL I mean no offense. I am trying to flesh out more of my campaigns and am looking to flavor these through this board and its creative people. whether or not this happens is of no consequence. This Over warlord or whatever must not have had much moxie to just disappear from here altogether. That being said, I do appreciate your input and scrutiny. I'm glad there are purists out there. As am I. Just looking for a good playing experience for me and others.

Squidfur, I also thank you for your comments and candor. I just want them to bring back Dark sun, maybe we can as well. I played a little in Iraq and it was funny to see how many DS fans there are, guys from Canada, England, Belgium, Australia, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, Italy, and one from colombia. we had a good time, lots of gr8 input. Thanks for responding to this thread
