Does anyone on here play Dark sun as well as ravenloft? and a mixture of the two? I have played Kalidnay on Ravenloft and was wondering if there were any new ideas for campaigning in both. Ideas?

Kalidnay is it. It was written for the rare group of people who want to play both. Interestingly enough, it is the only way into Dark Sun from the rest of the D&D Cosmology...making going to Dark Sun from FR a very bad idea.

I've used a few ideas from the 2e Kalidnay/DS in RL book. Not so much to introduce Kalidnay to my players (they've never visited it.. yet) but more as a way to spice things up by confronting them with unexpected adversaries.

- a templar shifting his devotion to another darklord to regain his powers (IMC, it was to Hazlik)
- a defiler which, upon reaching the forests of the Core, became intoxicated by the raw amount of power waiting to be unleashed
- a DS druid binding to a spirit of nature from Forlorn and, as a result, becoming "unstuck" in time
- a para-elemental cleric of Magma darklord which "shared" a domain with a lich specialized in cold spells (leading to perpetual war between the two)
- a lone Thri-kreen gladiator which was mistaken with a fiend by RL natives but ended up helping players deal with a Gelugon which had almost achieved his "transfer" into RL

A few ideas for Kalidnay:
  • An obsidian mine that has a tenuous connection to the Deadlands, petrifying the miners into obsidian with long-term exposure.
  • A silkwyrm that the natives harvest the silk from but leave the creature alive.
  • A dhaot child that died in the beneath depths of the gladiatorial pits.
  • Because of the sleeping Kalid-Ma, no natural healing can take place within the arena. This is why the arena is always a death sentence, even if you survive.

I have a few more ideas for the domain if you want them, let me know.
