One more Gulg PrC.

Ambofari
“Oh, skull of my ancestor, what light will you give us so that we shall forever remember our lineage back to the beginnings of time”.
-Kimbo, ambofari of the pale moth-men People.

Ambofaris are the keepers of Gulg’s oral lore. Each specific People has one assigned as guardian of their daga-fari, or house-tree, and of their spiritual lives. They are advisers, healers, lawyers and executioners of their People. They are also very knowledgeable about the spirit world and as such, protect Gulg’s populace from the various malicious spirits that inhabit the forest.

Much of the knowledge they acquire is from ancient rituals that involve the contacting of each People’s ancestors. This is done within the shrine of ancestors in the highest branches of the daga-fari. The ambofari is very respected within the community and she is usually the one to sentence lawbreakers of their People found guilty by a templar. Rarely does the templar refute that authority but they have every right to do so in cases when the ambofari is considered too lenient.

You know, it would be a crying shame if most of the work you do on Gulg didn't become official.

Great work as always PB.

I can see one issue- but it is a big one. Why the psionics +1 to manifester level and caster level. There is nothing in the class that says to me elemental spellcaster or psion.

This class seems to derive its power from spirits- there is no elemental or psionic connection that would warrent an increase in a caster or manifester level IMO.

I think that you could easily drop this and give them some additional abilities. Maybe something like the guardian spirit from the Complete Divine. These are also some good feets in that book that could apply to a spirit-based PrC. Maybe they would get some limited protection from the energies of the Grey because their ancestor would appear and shield them from harm or some item they get that was their ancestors would absorbs some of the harmful energy.

Just something to think about PB.

The thing is, I want to leave the PrC open to all spellcaster/manifester classes in the optic that as an ambofari, you have the time to continue your old training albeit slightly reduced. The powers of the ambofari are an extra that doesn't necessarily have a connection to their old class. People with wisdom, intelligence and charisma are usually chosen so it would be too bad to gain levels in a class that doesn't let you advance in your extracuricular activities. On the other hand, you don't absolutely need to have levels in a spellcasting/manifesting class to become an ambofari (although it would sure be usefull).

What do you think, could that work?

Well I have thought about this and I guess that it is not a huge deal- of the 10 lvls in the PrC they could only get a max of 6 CL/ML so I could see that it is not something that is going to throw this PrC out of wack.
