In case folks are interested, Rob Kuntz is selling another very large lot of ancient D&D materials, including original materials from his days of DMing the Greyhawk campaign, as well as from his own world, Kalibruhn. The listings began tonight.

What, is Rob broke again and trying to finance yet another futile foray into game publishing? Why is the code of conduct rule against linking to commercial sites ignored for these Collector's Trove spams?

No offense, 'dog, but as neither CT or RJK ever post here, I see this as spam and a violation of the rules of the forum.

Now now now, you can't actually expect Rob to visit a forum that supports 3.5e and post-Gygax Greyhawk, can you?

Hi all -
I have asked Grodog to continue this concept in regards to this auction and posting an idea of ppl working together. I'm hoping that with his many contacts and forums that I don't visit nor would, that he can get some of us GH/WoK fans together and not bid against each other if our goals are similar.
Any and all products that I win, I intend to scan and offer up at GreyhawkOnline.com and CanonFire. These are some possible treasures of the World of Greyhawk (and Kalibruhn), and I'd like to see them treated, if not like a Picasso, then at least like the Poker Dogs. You may not care for RJK's work, and that is your right, by far. But I like the idea of these old Greyhawk items, and I find this to be yet a modern day adventure, where instead of my sword and armor, I'm fighting with my modem and keyboard and the treasure I earn by adventuring (working) enables me to win yet another treasure.
Again, any auction that I win, I intend to scan and post on CanonFire!'s download section hosted by GreyhawkOnline.com Having GHO for a couple years now, it has become a place for hard to find GH lore. I'd like to see others that win have this same idea. These things are potentially a treasure trove in themselves.
My eBay ID is Keoland - and I'm interested in several of the items, mainly Greyhawk and World of Kalibruhn. I'd like to work with a few others that are interested in the Greyhawk and Kalibruhn items and for us to maintain a good collection (why win 1 small map that kills the rest of a potentially complete collection of something in particular) esp. if we are willing to provide scanned and PDF'd copies.

Regarding this being an ad or something that shouldn't be posted, I completely disagree with ChatDemon, as evident by my notes above.
The heading of the topic is clear. There is no reason to open the forum topic, if you aren't interested. It's not spam, this is advertisement for sure, but so is the Petition for Greyhawk, in which that message is advertising "Hey we're discussing what we can do/what is needed to get WotC to publish Greyhawk material." This is a message to those people that are interested in ancient Greyhawk lore written by RJK, no matter what his reasons are.

Grodog isn't the one sponsoring this auction. He may be tied in someway, but I wasn't aware of this auction. I do not visit the place where the post was originally posted. I open my eBay page everyday, but I don't do a search of Paul Stormberg's auctions, nor do I do a search at all.

I see this is as nothing more than yet another overall attack by ChatDemon. In all the years I've known ChatDemon through the 'net, most things are a spiteful attack. Sometimes I agree with his opinion, though I seldom agree with his strategy. It is his post that is the real spam for he has no real content. It's like the kid that calls you pimple-face. It isn't creative or even really hurtful. If that same kid said that your faced looked like someone poked it with a fork multiple times and maggots crawled out, now that is something that has content, is creative and is worth remembering. Nobody ever called me that, and I had a bad acne problem, but I would have remembered who it was. Pimple-face? After 20yrs I forgot anybody's name that would have called me that. If ChatDemon had posted a copy of the exact rules, his reading and determination for his reading, as well as examples of past behavior that led to a post being edited by a moderator, (and to be fair, posts that weren't), then you could call his post informative, and one that was worth remembering.

And as children, aren't we taught to not say something at all if we can't say something nice? Of course, we never listened to that advice as kids, and won't as adults defending our favorite setting. I've said something unkind about ChatDemon, so I expect to see a backlash (is this again something that is not-nice?). It is this in-fighting that is likely one of the main reasons for the loss of GH'ers over the years, or at least, one that isn't related to marriage and family!

Be Well all and Check out the auction and again, I'm Keoland. PM or email me if you/ we can work together on some of these auctions of old and ancient manuscripts.

Eh, you're in luck I read this else I would have outbid you on the manuscript to the Lost City of the Elders.

Good luck to all who participate, may the fan community wins!

Regardless of anyone's opinion on my motivation, these posts violate two points of the code of conduct for WotC forum, namely:

advertising or promoting a business or commercial site

and

off-topic posts

And yes this is off topic, because there is a specific forum for announcing auctions and such:

... I for one think this is the better place for this advertisement. It is Greyhawk related after all. And I guess most of the GH fans do not frequently (if at all) check that other board. I for one don't but then again I've already seen the ad at the acaeum boards.

And boy are those auctions cool!

That's possible, and if the wizos agree, i'll drop the point and offer my apologies to Grodog. I raised the same point with Paul (the proprietor of the auction) in the past however.

As far as some irrational hatred of RJK driving my posts... Sure, I'm no fan of his, he knows that, anyone who's been here a while knows that, but that is not the point. I have no issue with Grodog's other recent announcement of more on topic news about RJK's current work. To me, those have a broader appeal to the folks here, and they have no other real home on the forum, in other words, they aren't breaking the rules.

And to any who might jump to the mistaken conclusion that I've some grudge with Grodog, nothing could be further from the truth.

And to divert back to something more positive:

Grodog: Any new word on the possible DW mag archive collection you teased about a few months back? I'm ready to order!
