Would anybody have information, or where to find it, about the premade tournament characters that took on the Giants and others, and any original stats (1st ed.) or magical equipment they may have had.

I noticed that there are threads updating some of these characters.

I know that in the G1 module, characters were not premade, but were allowed to have any standard items they would choose as well as horses, and were "recommended" to have 2 or 3 magic items "useful" against giants.

I don't know about the old info, but Frush and co. appear in the Istivin campaign arc in Dungeon Magazine Issues #117-#119

The tourney characters were published in the combined G1-3 and D1-2 modules (not in the original, monochrome color cover versions). You can buy those .pdfs from Paizo pretty cheaply and/or pick up copies on eBay for $10-20 or so, depending on condition.

Was there something in particular you were looking for, info-wise, about the characters, Oaklock?

Thanks, grodog and Amaril.

I am running G2 at the moment and 4 of my 12 PC's are leaving. I would like to provide the new or remaining players options to use some of the premade characters as well as using the PC's whose characters are leaving.

Another option would be to have the present characters interact with the premade characters as NPC's.

Also, having this info would be a model to look at the existing strength or lack of strength of my present party structure, with and without the PC's whose player has left.

I have the individual G1 through D3 as well as GDQ1-7, as well as Dungeon # 117.

I've found where to get Against the Giants - The Liberation of Geoff, G1, G2, & G3 - Against the Giants and D1 & D2 - Descent into the Depths of the Earth.

From what I understand, what I am looking for would be in either of the latter 2 modules. Is that correct?

Would the information be the same in either module or would they be different, such as maybe higher levels in the later module?

I was always under the impression that the G and D series of modules were identical to the contents of the GDQ series, minus Queen of the Demonweb Pits.

No, they have different filler materials. The GDQ supermodule has all sorts of background and story stuff to explain why the PCs are there. It uses (or introduces?) a number of important NPCs (Algorthas the Seer, an earlier version of Lashton, the Royal Archmage, etc). Some of the backstory in GDQ just makes no sense with the rest of the module material, namely the idea that Lolth is actively involved in conquering Sterich. Despite the fact that the whole giant plot is by the Eilservs, who are rebelling against Lolth..

I never understood that.

As I recall there was also a bit of modern background on Gleep Werp the Eyebiter in the Silver Anniversary Against the Giants supplements, which also first introduced the Sakhut that LGG has grown to love.

I haven't got as far as Geoff on my gazeteer yet, so I haven't tried to stitch together any back story for these characters yet but apart from Dungeon 117, I don't think there is a lot - those were the days when the pregen pcs had no background!

Oaklock, to find the details on the two full sets of tourney characters, you need the G1-3 and D1-2 compilations; I don't recall those pregen characters being in GDQ1-7, but I could be wrong (I haven't looked at it in quite a long time, since I generally use the individual modules).

Amaril, for an excellent analysis of the Eilservs' Rebellion vs. Lolth's cult, see MerricB's article at Canonfire! at http://www.canonfire.com/cfhtml/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=165 which examines the political situation quite nicely!

Thanks grodog,

That answers my question, in full.

You are correct, they are not in GDQ1-7.
