Just thought I´d post a curiosity. In Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, there is a region called Nibenay and its inhabitants are called Nibenese. How original... :P

Wonder if it was unintentional or not? I may grab a copy just in case the lawsuits start flying... :D

I don't know... how often do you hear the terms "Nibenay" and "Nibenese" in anything except Dark Sun? ;)

It's a good bet that more than a few of the developers play or have played D&D. If it really is the case that these terms appear in Oblivion (I don't know because I don't play Elder Scrolls games), then I'm sure it's not a coincidence.

I doubt it is coincidental that both terms appear in the same game, though nothing else has been borrowed in terms of cultural elements. The game is highly addictive, as a side note. In other words, avangions will be delayed some more. :P

Just kidding about the avangions. Seker and I aim to have another of our instant messaging design sessions this Easter. If Flip gets the internal mailing lists up and running, we can review the work in the Epic Bureau before releasing a draft. So thumbs up and fingers crossed, everyone!

Been playing Oblivion and saw that ;)
however...the FIRST elder Scrolls game was out over 10 years ago? I had that, it was fun, ENORMOUS play area. I recognize many of the places from Elder Scrolls 1 and 2, so you could be right, or they may have just been names from the ORIGINAL one, hm?

Damn good game

Yes, but the Darksun campaign setting was canceled about 10 years ago. The name Nibeney in DS, probably predates the first Elder Scroll game by a few years.
