This spell is from ToHS, i never put any attention on it until a player from my game group chose it. He is a newbie so he found it "powerful" after reading the medium earth elemental.
But kinda...really sucks! 1 MINUTE casting time for a duration of 1rnd/lvl

Last week he used it, and said: "guys, cover me for a minute; i'll summon a stone guardian"
this was a naive movement, considering they have a druid in the party. I think he chose it to compete with the druid considering she's been a BIG help in combat with summon spells.

Anyway, is there an errata for this? A full round sounds more fair to me, even if the spell should be moved to the 4th level list. Any thoughts on this?

Oh, BTW he summoned the guardian 1 rnd after the fight was over, and it crumbled before they finish the looting.

This spell is really only useful if you have time to prepare immediately before entering into combat. Say you were about to enter a room full of enemies, you could take a minute to cast the spell and then immediately send the stone guardian (5th level on Summon Monster table) into the room. In this case, the spell is significantly better than the Summon Monster III creature (3rd level on Summon Monster table).
