Just wondering about your opinions on whether or not to use the Ninja class from CW.

I plan to start a Ravenloft campaign that is going to heavily use the "Heart of Darkness" motif (the "humans make bigger monsters than actual monsters" motif), so I'm starting it off in the Japanese-inspired realm of Rokushima Taiyoo. Now, I know about the warlord brothers who are locked in brutal and sorrowful kin-strife, but I know very little of their troops. One of my PCs wishes to make a world-weary ninja who has grown tired of the human vs. human conflict that takes priority over the hideous monster attacks, and plans to run away from her position in the army.

The problem is, she wants to use the Ninja class from Complete Warrior (the one with supernatural abilities), when I figured a rogue would've sufficed (no supernatural abilities; all extraordinary). How would an actual, state-sanctioned magical ninja affect Rokushima Taiyoo? Last I checked, humans don't have special powers like that in the Six Lands of the Sun.

Well, ninjas do exist in the setting since the description of the Akikage in DoD states: "Akikage are dreaded undead creatures spawned from ninjas and assassins .." and "Once found only in the domain of Rokushima Táiyoo .."

The Ravenloft Dungeon Master's Guide also mentions that members of the Assassin prestige class are called ninjas in Rokushima Táiyoo.

That's the thing, though. That's what they're called. When I say Ninja, I'm talking about the actual 3.5 class statted in Complete Warrior. The one that can see ghosts and turn invisible as class features.

Given the DoD says ".. spawned from ninjas and assassins ..", methink the two class (co-)exist in RL.

That said, it's not so surprising books published by S&S wouldn't make an obvious reference to a WotC class...

Complete Adventurer. Which also, IIRC, has the Ghost-Faced Killer prestige class.
