Why is Suggestion better than Charm Person, et al.? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : dogstar Date : 09-29-03 05:33 AM Speaking from a Hypnotic Point, the Suggetion is implanted in their mind, rather than allowing direct automation control. Hence you can plant the suggestion to occur at a certain time, event or occurance, and leave them be, without them acting weird or following you around. Also they don't get regualar saves to realise they have been charmed, break the spell and come storming in at the most inoppertune moment for revenge -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Thailfi Date : 09-29-03 05:36 PM It depends on the DM. Some interpret the literal meaning of charm person verrrry loosely. Going by the book a charmed person will consider you a good friend, but will not do anything against their nature to help you. Combat and monetary use is limited. Could you convince your friend to let you "borrow" all of his money? Could you convince your good friend to kill another one of your friends for you? Could you convince your good friend that he should obey your commands and risk his life for you? Just because you miss your save for charm doesn't mean you will immediately switch sides in a fight. If an evil magic-user charms you and tells you to help him, you probably won't stand by while his thugs continue to beat up your party. The magic user is your friend, his thugs are still your enemy. You don't loose your ability to reason when charmed. Suggestion is a command that must be unquestioningly obeyed if the saving throw is missed. Only commands to commit suicide can be disregarded. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:17 AM.
