Hi all,
Anyone know of a gaming group near downtown Los Angeles? Can't spend too much time in transit, so please no OC or Santa Monica, etc.
I'd be interested in playing on a Friday or Saturday night, probably not every weekend though.
I'd be interested in playing 1st ed AD&D (in Judges Guild's Wilderlands/City States, Mystara, Midkemia, Blackmoor, Lankhmar, Oriental Adventures, Spelljammer, Thieves World or Krynn), 2nd ed RQ in Glorantha (esp Prax, or the Oriental setting), Stormbringer, Classic Traveller (little black books etc rules in the official universe, 3rd Imperium), possibly some version of Tekumel, 1st or 2nd ed Fading Suns (not d20), possilby a MERP-based Tolkein game, or the short-lived Dune RPG (not the d20 version).
Yeah I know, I'm set in my ways. But I might be willing to consider OD&D or 2nd Ed AD&D...
I'm also looking for a decent gaming store and sf/f book store in my neighborhood, if you happen to know of one.
Appreciate any input.
Thanks!

Have you tried posting on wizards gamer classifieds (which is the appropriate area for this)? How about other large sites like enworld gamers seeking gamers area? There is a 1e site that has an area also (Dragonflight perhaps).
I found one of my Sunday game players at games.groups.yahoo.com/group/DnDcontact . It is a database of gamers and also has state specific groups. There is also www.accessdenied.net , www.dnd.meetup.com , www.rpgregistry.com , www.thegamerconnection.com , and www.xsorbit2.com/users/rpggroupfinder that I have found. One of the best places around are the local game shops. Many of the game shops are quite good for finding a game or players. Even the bad game shops in my area have a board where you can put up a note card and advertise for a game. Many also have an online forum where people are frequently looking for games or players. There are probably a ton of other places too that most people never thought of looking for.
Good luck in your search, Karl

Hey there,

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I'd already tried some of those, but you gave me several new sites. It's been pretty tough, but I'm still optimistic.

Anyway, thanks again.

Hey Baron, Here's another idea. Try link below. Go to gaming groups and player registries under people and places heading. I see there are some gaming groups in CA. Maybe somebody closer to you can hook you up.
RPG Gateway: Role Playing Games
Dungeons and Dragons resources; free RPG resources including dungeons and dragons adventures, player listings, D&D links and more.
