I'm currently running the Dragon's Crown adventure, converting every npc as best i see fit to decent standards. Mostly it works out ok with some tinkering and taking liberties, but i'm stomped how to deal with the level 25 and level 30 psionicists that you face at the end of the book. Under 3.5 rules, those characters would be gods, but i'm not sure how to downgrade them to the point that they become somewhat viable opponents to 4 or 5 level 10-12 adventurers. In contrast, i've had them face a single level 17 psychic warrior in the previous campaign to make it clear to them that they weren't all that. They were pretty much chanceless.

My knowledge of 2nd edition is somewhat limited, and my knowledge of 2e psionics nearly null, is there something i'm missing about how these two archvillians can ever be beatable opponents (besides the stuntrigger on the last boss fight, which will be hard even with it active).

patchwork:
1.raise the PC levels.
2.the psionatrix is still active, and the psions must have a shard to use their powers. Have the PCs realize that to take a psion on, they should destroy the shard first. That should bring quite a disadvantage to any psion. or you could make the psionatrix even more powerful and say that no powers above level 4 can be used without a shard as the amount of psychic energy need is too strong.

This campaign has ran all the way from Freedom, over 3 ingame years and 1 irl year, i'm not going to magicly enhance the characters level to epic and end it ;) And all 3 psions are order members, of one it's stated that while holding the psionatrix, he has infinite PSP, the others are bound to have a protection similar to the crystal.

I also houseruled that the in 3.5 the Psionatrix effect is 2x PP instead of 4x, because chars have a lot less points in 3.5 psionics, and having a nearly completely useless character (He wouldn't have been able to manifest at top cost 3x a day with 4x, now at least he has 5 max powers uses) for the the whole first chapter of the campaign, which takes like 4 sessions, was to harsh even for dark sun. I'm considering making the effect of with stone to be +1 PP/power.

I'm considering making them 15th level, which is still stupidly lethal but not completely impossible. This only raises the question if about 6 level 15 characters can take out an avengion who was on his guard going into a meeting.... I guess not, perhaps the other Heads of the Order can be more powerful.
