but why is water from Bodach's central fountain needed to grow a Tree of Undeath?

I haven't read it in a while, but I don't think it was explained in Terrors of the Deadlands.

A good DM will offer alternative materials, just as rare, but that allow the production of trees of undeath even if, say, Bodach's fountain were to be raised.

Sep 02, 2006 4:46:12 I wasn´t involved with athas.org when the first edition of Terrors of the Dead Lands was released, but I would guess it is because of the "undead curse" upon the city.
