I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to post the 3.5 writeup of Van Richten, or most current available. If not then some simple stats like classes and levels would be nice. Thanks for the help.

As Van Richten was dead (or at least vanished) before the setting's upgrade to 3E, he never had "official" 3E stats in the WW products. In 2E he was a thief; in 3E, he'd most likely be an expert/rogue/monster hunter PrC, in some combination. If I'm not mistaken, suitable unofficial 3E stats for the doctor appear in one of the netbooks on the FoS website, but I'm not certain which one off the top of my head.

Van Richten's character level went up and down like a yo-yo all through his career, thanks to his frequent encounters with level-draining undead. Whatever level you need him to be is fine, albeit within reason (i.e. not so low he'd die easily, nor so high he'd cease to be a struggling underdog in his war against the darkness). The netbook article give three versions of his statistics: as a newbie vampire-slayer, as a crusading hunter in the prime of his life, and as a retired author and legend.

I hope I dont get proverbial rotten vegtables thrown at me but I was thinking of making the good doctor an Archivist from Heroes of Horror, as it just seems to fit in my opinion.

While I think the archivist makes for a great Ravenloft class, I don't think making van Richten a spellcaster is a very good idea. Not only is there no basis is canon whatsoever, but it also goes against the whole "survives because of planning, cunning and mental and moral fortitude, not swords or magic" theme that's so central to the character.

HoH did provide a lot of good material, and for my campaigns, I will probablely be adding things from that book to the canon material.

That was my biggest reservation about the idea as well, but the class just seems to fit him so well, the intelligent doctor who is a master of monster lore. Maybe make him an archivist with no spells and better BAB and HPs then go into monster hunter or something to that effect.

That write-up was done by our esteemed brother Jester in the second issue of Quoth the Raven, available for download on the FOS site, article starting on page 91.

It's located here:

Unfortunetly, it is 3.0E (predating 3.5) and I keep meaning to update it but have doubts on the legality of it now.

Van Richten the Dark Powers you say? Hmmmm, that's one theory! My personal one is that he has been reincarnated since he supposedly died in Bleak House. Come on here people! If Tatyiana (or however you spell her name) keeps being reincarnated, surely one of the greatest heroes the Land of Mists has ever known wouldn't get a free ticket to the Near Etheral. The Dark Powers need heroes to keep their prisoners miserable!

Van Richten was updated in an unofficial netbook hosted at Kargatanes.
I'm not sure u can get acces to it anymore because this homepage has stopped updating and keeps only very few old netbooks.

I'm not sure what was the name, but I try to find it out.
In my memory he was Exp5/Rog5/Scholar5 (from heroes of light) when he died.

You can still download all the Kargatane "Book of S____" netbooks from their site, though it officially shut down back in 2003.

However, the writeup I think you're thinking of is actually from the Fraternity of Shadows netbook Quoth the Raven, issue 2, which can be had here.

That's the exact adress, Brandi.

I'm not very up to date. As I see now, I haven't visited those pages for three years.
