Lifeshaping and Tending?

Sep 20, 2006 17:48:32 I was reading some Dark Sun related material this morning that included a mention of 'lifeshaping' and 'tending' (and lifeshapers... as in 'High Lifeshaper of the Jagged Cliffs). I'm guessing this has something to do with the Blue/Green ages and am wondering what these two terms refer to. More importantly, I'm wondering where I can get some information on ancient Athas (i.e. the previous ages) as I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Sep 20, 2006 18:29:55 Life-shaping is a process of creating living creatures and items in a process similar to when a carpenter makes furniture out of wood (but way more complex).

Tending is caring for life-shaped creations: healing, grooming, trimming, etc.

This was done by the rhulisti during the early ages of Athas and is currently done by the rhul-thaun in a much lesser extent.

The Revised Boxed Set, Psionic Artifacts of Athas, and Windriders of the Jagged Cliffs are a good source of information about those.
