I'm trying to find information about the Tradenest ssurran village and the Magehome ruins that are close to the Lava Gorge.

I've searched every book I have and found nothing.

It doesn't have to be official, throw in your secret undergound space hamsters lair ideas too!

For the Arcane Specialist PrC that I made, I placed a small school of arcane magic at Magehome (home of the arcane specialists of course).

Now I also have a Elemental AB here as well, a magma cleric that is in the latter stages of the process - 9th or 10th if the stages are broken out in the same manner as the rest.

Now the cleric and the preservers have an agreement of mutual protection and such, though the cleric currently enjoys a bit of a leverage here, as he is much more valuable to the wizards then they are to him. The school also has a small, but growing, faction of preserver/magma cleric multiclassed individuals.

I don't remember how much I mention it in the write up of the PrC, but I do have a small list of some of the prominate figures I have placed in this area - I may have to look in my personal campaign notes.

I always associated Magehome with being one of Rajaat's major leanining center for teaching the art of magic to the Rebirth races of the Green Age. Its a no brainer to think that its destruction took place during the Preserver Jihad. Perhaps Myron and/or Irikos are the cause (directly or indirectly) of the Lava Gorge located in that area.

I did remember something incidental, Bruno.

Mind Lords says that the Ssurans of Tradenest come to a trade fair outside of the Saragar area twice a year to trade with folks of the Lost sea area.

Based on that, I have the Ssurans the sole providers of what's known as "shimmercloth" to the rest of the world. (Shimmercloth is what the rest of Athas calls Puddingfish cloth, since the Ssurans don't say what it's made of). Shimmercloth is a special material has just added to the LC appendix -- you'll see it in today's update.

I picture Trade Nest as a loose consortium of different Ssupran trading groups, kind of like "Bartertown" without a single ruling figure.

Oh you will be seeing many PrCs - I may even send you my personal ones to look over - I don't want to submit my own PrCs to the Appendix II (after I revise a few of them) without someone else checking them so we can keep bias out of the picture as much as possible.

I read over the arcane specialist today - and I only reference it as being the home of this growing school of preserver arcane magic - so it is pretty much a blank slate.

Is this appendix officially released? If so, where? If not, when?

The LC appendix will be released with LC, one imagines Along with the Table of contents, the introduction, and the other sections of LC.

My pardon -- I understand the confusion now :D

when I said "you'll see it in today's update," I was speaking to Bruno, who is part of the LC team, or at least was and will be again, as soon as Kalthandrix stops burying him in Prestige Classes ;)

Info on Shimmercloth, since some seem interested:

Shimmercloth: Shimmercloth is a rare and valuable commodity in the Trembling Plains, and until recently, relatively unknown in the southern Tablelands cities. House Azeth obtains shimmercloth from the Ssuran, who keep secret the fact that they obtain this cloth from Saragar, far to the north, during the bi-annual trade festivals. In Saragar, shimmcloth is known as puddingfish cloth. Considerably lighter and stronger than silk, shimmercloth is named for its remarkably reflective surface. In moonlight, undyed shimmercloth takes on an evocative pearly appearance, and properly dyed shimmercloth reflects its colors distinctly. In full sunlight, the cloth is dazzling.
Weight (1 lb per 10 square yards); hardness 3; hp 1; Cost TBA

Shimmercloth Robe: A full robe made of shimmercloth gives the wearer the full benefit of shade, so long as the user leaves the hood up. However, unless the wearer stands in total darkness, he takes a -10 penalty to all Hide checks.
Weight 1 lb.; TBA

Shimmercloth Robe, Masterwork: This robe is identical to an ordinary shimmercloth robe, except that it has been painted by a Kurnan master artist. Kurnan painters have developed a technique for dying their art into shimmercloth, creating works that dazzle the eye in daylight, and come into their full beauty in moonlight. Some work their art in great banners, others into smaller flags, and others, into clothing such as cloaks and robes. In addition to the benefits and penalties associated with a shimmercloth robe, the wearer of a masterwork shimmercloth robe gains a +1 circumstance check to her Intimidate and Diplomacy checks.
Weight 1 lb.; TBA

There's more stuff, but Bruno has some cool ideas on it, so I'll save it as a suprise.

I made Magehome a base of operations for an undead cabal that once served the Wind Mages. Explorers into necromantic preserving, this cabal sought to use arcane magic to heal, so that the high priesthood of Godshome could take a little slack off. They accepted all races into their fellowship, and were nominally answerable to the Wind Mage cabal in the Dragon's Crown Mountains.

When the Preserver Wars began, the Council of Magehome was too powerful and too entrenched with their life-enhancing magicks to eradicate. So, Rajaat himself just...bound them away within the city. Unable to escape, eventually even the Council's life magic floundered and failed, and they were forced to become t'liz monstrosities.

--in today's era, the T'liz Council is only slightly insane and bent with evil NB

I imagine that a Ssuran "bartertown" would look more like a big junkyard than a humanoid habitation.

Ssurrans are comfortable in the heat, IIRC. My guess is that trade-nest is a Ssurrans only sort of place, maybe not by policy, but by climate. I'm guessing is that people there aren't used to the sight of unroasted humans.
