Chronology of published Greyhawk Adventures

Oct 12, 2006 14:00:04 I’m interested in giving my players a good grounding in Greyhawk history once I return to running D&D, and an idea has been bandied about among some in the group: running most of the published modules in chronological order.

The players have no problem with giving up characters as time passes and things change in the world. I think they might even be intrigued by it. I’m happy with that as I know adventures will swing from high-level to starter characters.

I know that “The Adventure Begins” has a pretty good summary of modules, but would like to know what else I can add to that list. Maybe any interesting Dungeon adventures, as well (I do plan to run the Age of Worms AP as a finale). Is there any advice on where to break the old campaign arc and move onto the next, or any stories of other DMs doing something similar?

Here’s hoping for a long and fun campaign…

Oct 22, 2006 9:20:56 The greychrondex might be a bit much. It is more of a timeline for the whole setting than a timeline of adventures.

Using Russ's methodology, if Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil takes place in CY 591, then the original adventure must have taken place in CY 576 ("fifteen years ago").

Oct 23, 2006 13:45:25 Yes, and isn't it strange that one of teh npcs seem to have had their stats adjusted for ageing - I think published canon right across the board decided to dispense with those rules

T1 is set in 579, but isn't explicitly stated as such. Still, that can be deduced, since it takes place ten years after the Battle of Emridy Meadows and the original fall of the Temple of Elemental Evil, which happened in 569 CY.

The GreyChrondex agrees with this, although apparently published sources disagree about the date of the Battle of Emridy meadows.

That would place Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil at 594 CY.

The second page of the thread places the adventures in the context of Robilar's adventures. Robilar, in the original campaign, adventured through the Tomb of Horrors first, then the Temple of Elemental Evil, then the City of the Gods.
