Hi all -
This goes to my questions regarding my Mummified Cleric of Heironeous.
He's currently a Cleric of Heironeous lvl 2, Mummy 1 (per Liber Mortis). I've decided that the Church of Zilchus (an off-shoot) is the group responslible for his becoming a Mummy. I'm intending to give him a 3rd domain, from one of Zilchus's aspects. But if he decides to advance as a cleric (per the other discussion, I'm allowing him to take a cleric level every 3rd level, to keep up his healing abilities, which is important for the group), will he become a cleric lvl 3 or a cleric of Heironeous lvl 2, mummy lvl 1, cleric of Zilchus lvl 1?
I haven't found anything in the rules to identify what happens if a cleric takes on a 2nd or 3rd diety. Nor do I see any reason why they couldn't. Certainly historically many clerics of the Roman's and the Greeks were dedicated to the partheneon. So much so that the Romans seemed to absorb the religions of those they've conqured. I could easily see a cleric worshipping two gods from the same parthenon and not having an issue with it, if they started out that way, but in this case, the off-shoot Church of Zilchus (not the dominant one in Dyvers, but a more "cult-like" 2nd church) starts the granting of spells. This would be against the main churches wishes, and certainly below the belt so to say in regards to Heironeous.
So does a cleric take lvls in cleric to further their standing in their particular church or are they levels in their total understanding of the ways that gods work? The point I want to stress is not a matter of argument regarding whether or not gods grant spells (I've my own Pholtus biased opinions that would be better for a different thread), or if a cleric is allowed to worship two gods, but if a cleric does, does he take levels based upon the god or just as being a cleric? Cleric lvl 3 or Heironeous 2 / Zilchus 1?

Thanks
Theocrat

will he become a cleric lvl 3 or a cleric of Heironeous lvl 2, mummy lvl 1, cleric of Zilchus lvl 1?

Either way would work. A cleric could start out worshipping both deities (and choose from either god's domains, while obeying the restrictions and commandments of both) or the cleric could add the second deity later, choosing from the domains of the deity she is currently leveling in (but still obeying the commandments of both deities if she expects to keep her previous cleric levels).

But the former idea sounds more sensible and less metagamish to me.

No, he only has one set of cleric levels.
Technically, on switching deities he must complete an atonement, and then gets new domains as per is new deity. Since you aren't telling him about the switch, I'd just give him the new domains, gradually if you want, switching both old ones out for the new ones.
