I'm not currently DMing a Dark Sun game due to really wanting to run the Age of Worms adventure path. However next year I may be moving due to work and I might have to build a new D&D group and I'm thinking of setting the game in the far future. Heres a few ideas I had but the campaign now has hope. PC adventures revolve around restoring Athas.

Tyr. Sadira is now a Sorceror Queen and her body has continued to transform. Essentially she is now a sun mage even at night as her body absorbs enough heat to retain it through the day. As a side effect of her transformation she can also grant Templar spells. In game terms she would be around a level 30 Wizard with a sun mage template. The Tyr Region wouod also have its 1st river as Sadira uses her magic to syphon power off the Cerulean storm and causes rain to fall in the valley of Tyr. No more Tyr storms. The Agis river now runs under the elven bridge and end in marshland near Alturak

Urik. The Tyr region now has the Dragon of Urik to worry about. The Drgon is really Hamanu who continues to grant his Templars spells and has now settled in the Dragons Crown. The ruler of Urik is now High Templar Pavek who is essentially immortal. He would be a gestalt 20/20 Druid/Templar or around level 25 with some PrC similar to the Ultimate Magus that lets him have full progression in both Templar and Druidic Magic.

Balic. Andropinis is back!!! He hates Sadira and Tyr blaming them for his imprisonment. Life contintues much as it always has in Balic when he ruled it.

Raam. After the failure of his attempt to ecome a god Dregoth destroys New Giustanel in a fit of rage and seizes Raam as his domain. Over the last 1000 years he has been looking for a way to reverse his undeath status.

Draj. Atzetuk has become a full Dragon-King including the ability to grant Templar spells due to an unknown process.

Nibenay: Nibenay himself is rumoured to be dead and hasn't been seen in public for over 100 years. his Templars continue to recieve spells however. The forest as recovered due to Gulgs influence.

Gulg. Ruled by the so called Forest Goddess Lalali-Puy her faith now has more Druids than Templars. The forest has doubled in size and she has a loose Allience with Tyr and she to has learnt how to channel rain off the Cerulean storm. The Veiled Alliance is welcome here and some would speculate that the Queen has become an Avangion.

A couple of comments...
As far as Urik goes, Hamanu will never willingly relinquish control of Urik. Simple as that.

I do like your idea of Nibenay disappearing. You kind of have to know that he's up to something though

Also, I, for one, will never believe in the prospect of Lalali-puy redeeming herself. Yes, its an idea thats been tossed around quite a bit, just not one that I agree with. Just my opinion.:P

Anyhoo, good to see someone thinking a little outside the box now and again.

Hamanu disappearing could be used if one treats Rise and Fall of a Dragon King as canon. he still has effective control of the city. You could also either disregard the novel or have Hamanu ule Urik as a full Dragon. Mote I said Lalali-Puy is speculated to be an Avangion not that she is one. In this era there would be maybe 3 Avangions (Oronis, Amiska, + 1 random one of DMs creation).

If I get around to another DS campaign I'm thinking of advancing the timeline. Wonder what happened to the Kreen empire plot hook. IMC I think a bio weapon might wipe 90% of them out after they raid Thamasku a few times to many.

Amiska is the avangion featured in the short story Service that comes with the Black Flames adventure.

If I may, I would think that Nibeney could of discovered Planar Travel and has been takeing steps to reach divinity, like that of Dregoth. In fact, Dregoth and Nibeney could be working together (Unlikely) to acheive God hood. In some sort of mutal terms, if Nibeney helps Dregoth cure his undeath and Dregoth helps Nibeney with the transformation (After all Dregoth is 9/10 complete, and could be the most powerful Dragon even more than the Dragon).

In this timeframe after his failure n Dregoth Ascending I would consider giving Dregoth levels in the Dragon Ascendent PrC from the Draconomicon. They gave Tchazzer in FR this (great Wrym half fiend red dragon level 12 Dragon Ascendent CR40)

Dregoth already has most of the Immunities that the Dragon Acendent gains.
Undead (Immortal), Tranformation Immunity, Lifewarding, Iron Mind. IMO he should be at lvl 11 working at his 12th.

Yeah but if I advanced the timeline I stated that Dregoth may have been able to return to life with the intention of completing the metamorphosis. It also fits the flavour as opposed to the mechanincs of it.

Well if he returns to life, then full power to him (Even though Sorcerer Kings are already Immortal). It be cool to have Dregoth acend, it be funny he becomes the Athasian Venca.

I *loved* that story.
