Is Dark Sun dead?

I thought Dark Sun was dead, its atleast out of print right? Yet theres a thriving forum here.

Dark Sun is no longer officially produced by Wizards, but the group at http://athas.org has an agreement with WotC to produce official material for 3.5 edition - and the best part is it's free

There's around a 1,000 pages being written right now, for about four official projects.

Its far from dead.

Yes but not buried. The hope remains that someone will reprint it. Perhaps some other d20 company given the wide variety of crap d20 worlds/products out there.

Many of us don't see a reprint as a good thing. The second life of this setting is due to the incredible freedom we have with it: your PrC can get in the setting if its good enough, and your project can be picked up for the same reason.

For a company, this would be limited to paid writers. There's no guaranty the setting would stay intact either.

These are some of the arguments against. Others remember more on this subject.

Yes, in my opinion Aths is dead. And the Sorcerer-Kings have founded their cities on its dectaying corpse...
